I don't know what anyone is talking about. The 420 give away has nothing to do with logic. Where that info comes from I have no idea. And for the record all these breeders left the farm eons ago. This isn't new. Whatever logic chooses to do is his business I don't get into other people's bullshit. I also have no problem with people who don't like his methods. Just saying it's not my business so I don't care. I don't buy beans from the farm. I buy direct from the breeders I mess with for the most part. Back to the 420 thing. That was me giving back to the people who make this thread what it is. Just like this thread it all of a sudden blossomed into something way bigger than I anticipated. So one thing I don't ever want this place to become is a rumor mill. Not sure how anyone put logic or anyone else into my own personal give away. So I never asked for anyone to participate like I said it was supposed to be me giving back. So it is what it is. Participate or not. I will be fine blessing someone with my own personal seeds once my thread reaches that point. If nobody wants a pack from my vault it's fine. I'm just as happy keeping them. No stress here but please if ur not sure about something please ask. Don't assume. I have no idea where the 420 give away was going to be anyone but me giving seeds away.

Its probably been asked before....

but whats up with CMH?

Been hearing lots about he 315w, but I can't find any full set-ups. Just bulbs.

Anybody know what the options are for CMH? What ballast and reflector, etc? Pricing is a huge question as well?

Im looking into this myself. Apparently theyll fire on a 400w hps ballast. I crop in about 5 days and when i do, im either gonna pick up a 400w mh conversion bulb. Or the 315 cmh bulb

Id be interested if you wanted to share anything you learn

Edit to add: @FlyinJStable mentioned it in this thread 5 or 6 pgs back. Perhaps he could shed a little more light

Edit to also add:
@NaturalTherapy those look like potm winners to me. Planning on starting a cannabis post card series? Lol. Respect. Nice work

I see that the d'pappilon are heavily advertised. And the epaps are supposed to be the new standard...so I think they would be pretty good.

But idk where to purchase them. I've seen one site listing that at 500 euros + ...which seems pretty high?

@MGRox yes just a dash of great white. I also have aurora innovations 3 part equivalent to general hydroponics. Should/can I switch to it mid grow? Being as gh has absolutely nothING to do with us?

For the enzymes, I was meaning (if you use) something like hygrozyme or (from what I understand) more preferably Slf100. As far as switching nutes "mid grow"; if your still in vegetative state then it's not too scary to switch nutes. I wouldn't recommend switching nutes in mid flower unless there's some confidence in the change.

@NaturalTherapy Looking good!!! I'd probably try pheno 2 first. ;)

@SeaF0ur Cool thanks for the quick tips there!! I would like something a bit larger than the root riot and that idea of taking a corner to fill the hole; is a keeper there.

@MrBelvedere Thanks for the tips with the rockwool! I wasn't sure if I needed to do some advanced pre-treatment or the like. Thanks also for reminding about squeezing, doubt I would've but least now I know i won't, heh.

As far as dome / no dome isn't going to be the test really though. This experiment will be to see if the jello peat plugs or rockwool work well in my "bubbler" method; instead of the peat/ coir I've used over the years.
I guess I always say it's a bubbler but it's not in the truest sense. Basically, my bubbler setup has (currently) 2" net pots with peat / coir suspended above a water volume with aeration. The water level is low enough that there is NO direct interaction with water and net pots (water level nor bubbles). The only function of the water itself is, so when roots are formed out of the net pots; they have somewhere to "head" and get nutes. I keep the water around 0.5-0.6 EC with an npk of 50-15-30 (appx).
The MAIN reason to have the setup like this, is that the whole unit is sealed except for the net pots. I have appx. 0.4 Liters per minute (on average) of air that goes through each pot. The idea is to prevent stagnation in medium, maintain moisture, provide humidity to leaf surfaces and maintain oxygen in the water. Outside of this, it would probably be closest to a standard "tray" cutting method.

@shemshemet There are only a few MFG's of the 315's atm. I believe the higher pricing on this size is related to the "niche" ballast requirement. I believe that all the MFG's use the philips mastercolor bulb.

@Lazerus00 & @gardnguyahoy both Seaf0our and FlyinJstable talked about the CMH's a while back. They are both using "conversion" CMH bulbs instead of the "315". The conversion seems like a good way to do CMH for cheap if you have the ballasts already. There is no "common' ballast that will run the 315w size. I'll reply to those posts for anyone who may want.

SeaF0ur said:
Yeah... lol... my bad... solid state is just old school electronic talk...
the solid magnetic core, caps igniters and copper wire are all solid materials... digi's with circuitboards are not solid state... if your ballast is MH it'll run these

http://advancedtechlighting.com/cdmea860.htm

I dont care what anyone says... they run hotter than 1000HPS by a little bit... not sure if its the extra unused 140watts being converted to heat somewhere along the way, but they're hotter.... I'd have one in now but I kept hitting 105-107 degree... with the hps I'm at 100 max and generally around 95....

On this point @SeaF0ur This bulb was intended as a conversion and I'm not so sure that it will be drawing much "extra" wattage. A 1000w MH runs 263v @ 4.1A. The 860 there runs at 248V @ 4.24A. I would imagine the transformer should have no issues supplying 4.24A and would also expect that the output voltage would be "pulled down" close to the 248 as a result. I bet if you check the wattage draw, that it will not be too far outside of the 860 range.

FlyinJStable said:
need to check the Part number on the bulb itself But I lucked out and scored the same ones that Coir uses in his garden.
its all about the bulb I would do a bit of homework on it. But the 400HPS ballast will work for the bulb I use.

Here's a .PDF from philips for that bulb. It is also a straight-up conversion....but for HPS.
If you look in the .PDF (page 2 ordering info); you can see the required ballasts for that bulb. S51 or M168.

Here's a page with the ANSI codes for ballasts: http://www.kolmart.com/HID-ANSI-Code-Guide_b_3.html
If you look at the 400w HPS ballast, it is an ANSI S51.

What up whatever thread Playas and playets (if there are any)? Been thinking on getting a new pup for the family. my pom chihuahua gets stressed very easily and worries a lot when I'm gone from the house. So I scoured some adds and found the puppy I've always wanted. He's a pug! I know a lot of folks think these dogs are ugly and all that. But this little guy stole my heart. Hahaha! Anyways just thought I'd show him off to the thread!

@MGRox no I don't have any enzyme products. I am still in veg. I was thinking do a 24 hours flush like with just water and calimag (which I forgot to add just recently when I upped it into the 5 gallon bucket.), and after 24 hours is done take plant out add new nutes at 1/4 strength (adding 1/4 each week til it is where I want it,) stir, test ph, adjust, and and ready to go sound? I'm on budget so I would need a small bottle of good enzymes you are talking about slf100. I will check it out soon. I'm trying not to use too much great white as on mom's house plant we had cloned for fun got slimey.

Thanks everyone! This round came out pretty well, but could be better. I fed a little too much nitrogen so they didn't perform as well as they could have. One of these days I'll be satisfied with my own crop.
