dudes, i cannot get the yellowing to slow down on these girls. even the smaller ones that were showing no signs a couple days ago are turning now.

for a gallon of distilled water i'm using 1 cup of dr earth bloom mix, 1 table spoon DEM radiant greens, and half a tablespoon of fish hydroslate along with half a teaspoon or so of voodoo juice.

any advice?

Any purple stems? Try straight water for a couple watering see if things improve. Stuff might be locked out.

Also make sure your medium isn't holding water for to long and the roots aren't just suffocating. I know you checked for pests in the soil but have you checked all over the plants as well? You need to have a good cation exchange in your medium or you will just face problem after problem.

i think its definitely retaining water for too long, they take ages to dry out which has led to some overwatering issues.

ive checked the undersides of the leaves and eerything for bugs, none of those thank god. ill look for purpling when lights are on tomorrow, thanks bro.

Need to lighten up your mix with some river rock or chunky perlite.

Pull the plant out and look at the roots. See if they're brown or white. If brown your suffocating them.

No problem dude!

Isnt the dr earth stuff supposed to be mixed into the soil before transplanting?

crushed lava rock or rice hulls from a brewers supply would be my choices... always hated perlite...
Are you makin your own soil mix lemons?

I loved crushed lava rock. I agree the dust from the perlite drives me nuts. Seems that it breaks down quicker and easier and becomes more of a powder. Never tried rice hulls but wife's friends brew their own beer all the time so maybe I'll ask them where they get there stuff. Thanks man!

where do you get crushed lava rock

for me its not the dust... its the mobility.
I recycle my pots... some pots see 4 runs before I till and reamend my soil...

perlite floats upward leaving compacted soil in its wake....

then you get that same yellowing from compacted soil getting soggy and not airing out.

rice hills release Si as they decompose and their decomposition can be used as a gauge on when to re-amend your soil....

Just so you guys know Buildasoil.com also has lava rocks, rice hulls, and all that good stuff....just an fyi

I get mine from a local garden center who also has really good top soil.
does it really work better then the perlite.....I was always told you use just as much perlite as you do soil 50/50 is that wrong,,,,,,is the lava rocks better

Not that I plan on switching up my regiment ANYTIME soon.......but I am just curious is anyone currently using or have used Cutting Edge Solutions lineup?? I think they got a basic 3 part micro, grow, and bloom and also have a few supplement bottles too....

What would be? The lava rock? Okay so thats why I put rice hulls too, rice hulls are deff not $40/cuft

Yeah, the cat from BAS makes up something extremely similar to the soil mix I use and he ships it in the "if it fits" mail boxes... which, I can promise you, that you can create much cheaper yourself in a trash can, or 10, or a pile on a tarp, or if yer not that fancy, a pile in the yard. He's a decent cat, but it only makes sense if you're either extremely lazy or confused by the various soil mixes out there....
