Toasters Seed Popping Micro Adventures

Man, you're getting today what we had yesterday. Shit was off and on all day yesterday. Been wanting to go volunteer a couple of clones but this weather keeps rolling through. Better luck later in the year I guess! One Love, tobh

I think we'll be building hoop houses with fine nets and later in the year put transparent foil over to at least try to prevent bud rot and damage from such weather. The problem is we have such storms until late in the summer and then excessive rain and heavy floods. Will be my first personal run outside so lets hope for the best. The altitude will also be a bit on the edge at 2400+ feet.

Man, I'm currently at ~6,000 feet. Bud grows fantastic out here, but I'm also at latitude ~34* N so that puts me at a decent spot for long winded crops. You must be up in the Midwest region with the weather you're describing. My sister lives in Kansas City, hates it because of the crazy weather. Best of luck to your first outdoor run man! Hope to see some pictures when you get around to doing it!

I'm at 52° N and lots of pine trees as well. My season starts June 1st and ends at the latest middle of October.
I prefer to have everything out by end of September !!!
With all the coniferous trees you will likely need lots of dolomite lime my friend. all out soil on the Canadian shield is acidic as Fuck !!

Here we have snow in early april and early november sometimes happens even late september.

Yea I figure the soil will be damn acidic because of the pine woods. Will have to check it on spot before we do anything. Will be going out tomorrow I guess if the weather alows. Plan to dig at least 3ft deep to see the structure below. Might also put some gravel on the bottom if I find clay down there.
Will know more when I return from the spot.

Thanks for the support good people!

If you do need lime I like the chipped version instead of pelletized. The chip breaks down faster. if this is new spot you will need the lime to be available quickly. I've even put the chip in a blender and turned to powder on a few occasions. I'm going with a patch of photo's and a couple patches of autos because of our short season.
Last year we had -7 Celsius on Sept 10th!!!!

Frost I fear the most!

Thanks for the tip on the lime. Will have to dig it up locally. I know what soil I'm buying and hopefully find the lime at the same source.

The soil I'll be using is CompoSana for mediteranian pot plants. Any other tips for soil mix and amendment? Ashes are always readily available since it will be near a wood cabin where we hang in the summer and always burn some wood in the evening, so we have P covered :) Will be using rain water collected in a 2x250gal reservoir :D

Hahahahahahahaha :D :D :D

Man you're cracking me :D

Yeah those pots are special ;) I drilled about 50 holes in bottoms of each of those to keep the roots from sitting in the water ;)

And them bitches are drinking like crazy. Feeding them every third day now with 2L (1/2 gal) and am not getting a single drop of run off like before. If they continue like that I won't be able to go anywhere for more than two days after drowning them.

So took my wife and the dog for a trip outside the town. Went to the green lake just beneath the mountains half an hour away from where we live :

Man, that picture makes me miss the PNW. Down here in the desert, the only lakes we have are overrun with kids and crappy fish (compared to the fish from Oregon, these things are bait.) Can't wait to be somewhere with legit life again. Plants look great too, btw. Don't do what I did in week four and go get stuck in the mountains for a day too long. Bitches don't like that shit, they wilt and die on you lol.

One Love,

I'm never letting my plants alone for more than four days. And they can take that even in the hottest summer days. They do wilt and some lover leaves fall off but don't die on me. What I do is I water them two days in a row until run off so they get really soaked before I leave and they also get foliar right before I leave my apartment. It happend once to me that they got thirsty really bad after four days but they perked up rigt after the watering.

If the weather allows on the weekend, we'll take a trip to another beatiful spot. It's the right time of year as the snow and ice has almost completely melted in the mountains and the nature greened up. Will be posting some more photos of the trip if it happens

Somethin I've been messing with lately is yucca powder as a soil amendment. It acts as a natural surfactant and works magic in reducing the surface tension between the water and soil. I've been adding a cup to every 4 gal of soi. Mind u I'm just beginning my research so rates could change in the future.
Cheers mate

So what's the science behind? Would that mean that the soil would absorb more water this way?
