A product called BT. It's name is something thuringus. It's some dead bacteria that turn catapillars stomachs into their demise. Pretty safe and could be washed off. Spray lightly with garden sprayer. I think after a couple days of sunlight it breaks down. Works pretty well! Spray in the evening and I have had no bad effects. I also spray with green cure, a fungicide for powdery mildew and other molds.
