Since I forgot to post on Monday, here's a new update. PIC HEAVY POST.

Things are moving along slowly. Definitely thinking I'll be running out to twelve weeks on this run. Have noticed a difference though, things are getting a little more frosty earlier on this time around. May be having the nutes dialed in better or the addition of MOAB. Not certain of which though. Been feeding them the MOAB every Weds. at 1 gram/US Gal in addition to 7ml A&B. EC about 1.8-1.9, pH between 5.8 and 6.1, slight flunctation. Fed twice a day mostly, sometimes three times a day, depending on how ambitious I am. Anyways, here's the pics.

Sick man, love this grow box, i wish you best of luck on this run i hope the new nutes work out. Not sure what moab is but im certain that some bloom nutes are better than no nutes.

Fucking dig this grow! I can tell dialing for stretch per-strain must be a task and feat. All its own. What strain/strains are you running? Sorry if you already gave that info. Looking for a bigger yield on this run! Got a seat and happily waiting a finished product. Best of luck g

MOAB is Mother Of All Blooms. It's a high PK (0-52-32) salt nutrient that is known to increase bud sites and make buds denser. It's the next (small) step to going to fully raw salts. So done paying $20 a bottle for something when I can make 1000x times that volume for $7.

The strain is something I'm calling "Nothing" for the moment. It's a hybrid I started a few years back (thinking back, closer to five years now) and got interrupted in the middle of. The full story is in my first thread, the one that says COMPLETE in green next to it in my signature. Smells like crazy, and not like that awesome weed smell but like a straight rotting shit smell. Very, very pungent stuff. Stem rub smells strong of pinesol and a bit of chemical hint to it, almost minty citrus pine forest.

Last run I pulled three zips off a 4 plant scrog that turned into a 3 plant scrog at the beginning of I think week four due to unforeseen circumstances. Had timers screwing up, dry spells, way overfed based on my initial run off #s in this thread (post two or three I think explains that) and just generally unstable conditions as well as my own messed up mental state. This run is hopefully going to surpass those numbers but with how long these ladies take to flower I'm already literally overgrown in the box. Was debating even pulling three more plants and throwing them outside to finish up because it's just overgrown to hell in there. Side to side, front to back, nothing but buds within less than an inch of bulb wherever I can fit em. Supercropped to the max, and even still continuing and this is coming to the end of week five since flip I think. They've still got at least another five weeks left in em, maybe closer to seven. Madness I tell you.

And it's a damn chore pulling all of em out three times a day to water in lol. It's like playing ganja tetris putting these ladies back in their box. Plants getting tangled, holding each other up, leaves just kind of smashed in amongst each other, no real discernible difference on the top side from plant to plant. If you just saw the top, you wouldn't believe it's 12 plants in there lol. Not doing this many again, lesson learned loud and clear.

Thanks for stopping by man. I enjoy the micro life but damn I cannot wait to get back into bigger spaces.

I think its lots of fun, its a good example of a grow sitch in a tight spot. You better believe if i had to grow in a tiny hidden space id want it done right, dialed. This project is sick. I like your post, always an insightful dude @tobh . I kind of noticed it looked like a jungle in there. 3 zips huh? No shit. banger for that space! And with no nutes? -applause- i cant wait to see you nail this box down and smash it. Keep up the solid work homie. -mad respect-

Definitely nutes man. I use Canna Coco A&B, Calimagic and now MOAB. During veg I was using General Organics Bioroot though this was the last run using it as I've used other products that were better at what they do and I'll be moving away from anything bottled soon.

I just try to be thorough man :) I hate reading through threads and there not being any significant detail. Just the expectation that you know wtf is going on. I write to leave an accurate and detailed record for not only myself, but that new guy that doesn't know wtf is going on. Granted I've slacked in this thread, I'm obviously a long winded cat haha. The last thread has all the details about this run, just different style of grow and less plants. I can't even imagine what it would be like if I hadn't dropped down from the 16 I started with.

Oh, and that 3 zips was off the same CFL's I'm running this round. Anyone that says CFLs can't produce don't know what they're talking about. Granted if I was LED or HPS in the same space I could see pulling 5 zips out of this box if done right. Maybe even six if someone got real scientific with it, but I think that's pushing the absolute boundaries of this space haha.

The bulbs are all white?

Yeah they're all daylight spectrum. I have been meaning to get some warm white, but these produce just fine as it is. The warm white might help flower development a bit but I haven't noticed anything adverse with these. Don't really see a reason to spend money on those right now when I'll be changing things over to a completely different lighting system fairly soon.

In fact, this run they're starting to trich up a bit sooner and more spread out. Not just staying on the calyxes and small bud leaves, but also getting out onto some of the fan leaves. Last run trich development didn't kick in until late week 6, and was never super impressive. This time I noticed it last week around Tuesday or Wednesday so this is almost 2 weeks earlier?

Granted this run hasn't had any major hiccups like last run did, so they're moving along a little better. Actually starting to see a noticeable difference within 24 hours of application of the MOAB. They seem to swell a bit overnight and the overall scent profile is a bit more enhanced. Not nearly as strong as last run where the ladies had my whole house stinking but once they're pulled out of the box, the room the box is in smells like straight funk with more distinguishable tones to it.

Depending how things go, I'll either switch up to a 150 HPS and change the ventilation a bit or I'll look into investing in a few COB LED's and blowing it up with them for a bit. CFL's are great on a bit of a budget but looking back, the money spent to do the set up this way I could've bought a cheap HPS and a fairly powerful centrifugal fan and probably been better off. Probably would have about the same heat issues (which aren't issues, it's just a bitch to keep things dialed in such a small environment so packed) and it wouldn't be so self contained but the production would probably be a bit higher and faster.

Point being, spectrum is important but if you're working with what's available, some things can be compromised on. This started out as a micro budget grow working with what was immediately available.

Lol I will at some point. I'll go multiples when I can. Right now I'm taking baby steps. Don't really have a spot for something much bigger than this right now until I have consistent work flow coming in. Speaking of I'm a freelancer and am constantly looking for new clients. I do graphic design and IT related stuff, so if you know anyone in need, drop me a pm please :)

Anyways, aside from my shameless self promotion, I think my next move will be a tent with either a 600w HPS or a pair of 315w CMH. Have wanted to run a CMH for years but from what I've read 600w HPS seems to put out the best return on investment. Can't wait to hear that hum off a magnetic ballast again.

I do not advise hps150w to anyone, burn very easily and are not efficient, 150w of cfl's are more efficient, hps must be at least 250w, I've used hps150w, 250w and 400w (dual), the difference between the first two is huge, now I use 250w in the first two or three weeks and end up with 400w.

I have some free space in my mom cab (18/6), It is perfect for 2 autoflowers, they are not there because I only have 6500k lighting, but I'll do an experiment ;)

Another update, sorry I've been slacking on this thread. Things have been a bit hectic, EC got a little out of hand for about a week so the ladies clawed up on me pretty bad. We're getting back on track again though. Some calyxes have started swelling but they're still putting out tons of new pistils still so I'm thinking at least another 4 weeks out. Original target date was October 19, but now I'm thinking November 2 will be the week they come down. Might pull some of the smaller ones on the 19th and give the bigger ladies some room to breathe while they finish up. The burnt leaves that you see are a result of contacting the bulbs, can't wait to get into bigger spaces. Anyways, here's some pics.

Day 1, Week 8

Ladies are swelling fairly well, debating going full time with the MOAB for a week and seeing if they chunk up some more. Their still looking a few weeks out though, so we'll see how things come along and play it by ear. Still looking like near the end of October though.

Have decreased the feedings quite a bit from 1.6-1.8 EC down to ~1.1. Will probably ride this out till flush. Can't wait to free the space up and get the mother in there, she'll fill the space up by herself. That's gonna be real fun! Anyways, here's some pics. Got my hands a legit digital camera this evening for these ones.

All 12 of the ladies out of their confines. Can tell they hate being all packed in there super tight. Shit happens lol Now I know with SoG, you flip as soon as roots set, don't wait for stragglers.

This bud is crazy, has four tails forming its top area, and several others elsewhere. Mutants, I tell you. Could be a result of the heat around the bulbs as well though. In such a confined space getting adequate air movement is rather difficult. Third time will be the charm with this box.

Look how dense it is in there! Simply inhumane for these plants. Whenever you have so many leaves burnt by your bulbs, you've got some issues. Then high EC in the medium helps compound issues and before you know it you have this.

Well, that's that for the beginning of Week 8 update. Thanks for coming through! Feel free to point out anything you see that should be addressed, aside from the obvious burned leaves and the burnt leaf tips, one issue is a cost of business, the other has been addressed and am seeing some improvement on. Clawing has started straightening out but the ladies are still rather dark. I figure over the next week they should start lightening up, maybe two. Anyways, I'm done rambling.

You could solve the heat problem by having a space between the lamps and the top of the cab, if you have that space between the lamps and the top of the cab the heat emitted by the lamps will stay in that area... with the configuration that you are using the heat emitted by the lamps stay in the canopy area causing heat problems.

Yeah, that was the game plan, ladies stretched like mad when I flipped to flower. This was something I hoped to prevent but a week too long in veg led me to here. So, lesson learned. Not really concerned about the heat issues up there, not this late into this run. Next run will knock it out of the park though.

Week 9/10 Update

Been slacking on this lately, business has been picking up a lot so time is stretched quite thin. Anyways, things are coming up to the end. Going to start the final feedings this week starting Monday, probably around .3 EC, maybe lower for week 10 and week 11 will be fed straight water to get a nice color change and hopefully advance the maturation a bit more. I'm looking for some real couch lock product.

Going to be finishing out 2 plants shy as well, I pulled two that weren't producing a lot and had suffered some burns so they were trying to do some weird reveg shit I don't have the time for lol. At least they got a full 9 1/2 week, no flush though. Some of the quick dried stuff has a hell of a kick, good daytime high but like I said, I'm looking for that knockout stuff.

This week (week 9) they were fed at 1 EC, 350 PPM A/B and ~150PPM MOAB. They definitely responded well to the MOAB, can't wait to see the interaction when I'm on Jack's (and hopefully alternative lighting) next run. Anyways, here's some pics.

Ive been looking for real basic cloning method, might try the one outlined on page one. Be a good use this bag of coco that's collecting dust then just stick the rooted coco plug into a pot of dirt.
Thanks for getting my imagination. Likin your progress, subbed in!

@lemons, definitely give it a go. I used to have horrific issues with cloning until I tried this method and since only use it. 100% success 90% of the times I've done it, the only time cuts have failed to root was due to severe neglect caused by my stoned-induced laziness lol.

Keep in mind I live in an arid high desert so where I clone, the RH tends to stick around 30% most of the year, even less during the winters. I don't ever use a dome, I feel it influences the potential for damping off and adds another variable to work with. When it comes to cloning, being as hands off as possible is the only way for success.

Throwing the rooted coco plugs into a soil mix will work just fine. The only time you would theoretically need supplements is during the first 3 or 4 weeks while the coco becomes completely rooted and ready for transplant. After that your soil should take care of the rest so long it is a quality mix.

So in other news, time for the semi-final update. Due to the big hairy butt this strain decided to show (I'm assuming due to actual maturity unlike last run) I pulled six of the ladies on Tuesday this past week. Mold started setting in on some of the damaged areas of the light burned buds and I wasn't looking to mess with any of that so close to the end. Was just easier to pull the affected and the surrounding plants and allow the last four to finish up. These last four were pulled this evening after 1 week flush and 96 hours of darkness. No particular reason for the long darkness aside from attempting to influence some final maturation in the trichomes.

Pre-cure weight of the first pulled plants measured out at 50.16g, so I'm definitely coming in more than 28 grams less than last run. I'm attributing this to a few issues, which include heavily confined spaces, late arrival of a pk booster, environmental control issues in certain sections of the grow area and most of all, some neglect that came about on my part.

Next seed run, everything will be automated. Handwatering is great for small plant counts but with better lighting and feeding automation, I'm positive this box can produce ridiculous amounts of product. In a five day dry sample amongst a circle at a Halloween party, all reviews were quite positive. Had many inquiries about providing more but this run has been designated for use by two patient friends whom can't afford dispensary meds and myself as, well, they were my ladies :)

Will post nug shots and final smoke report in a couple weeks after everything cures up and I'm positive about final weights. Should you have any questions that I haven't answered here, feel free to drop me a PM. After the final smoke report, I will consider this thread closed and likely not respond to it any longer.

Again, those of you that stuck with me from beginning to end on this one (and the first) I deeply appreciate it. I'm glad to have the opportunity to provide some insight and different approaches to the processes of micro growing and hope to further provide more detailed reports in the future with higher quality equipment as this thread is definitely for the DIYer on a budget and looking to purchase most supplies local. If I remember, I'll discuss why I'm moving away from Canna Coco nutrients and what I have found in my years of using it in straight coco as well as potential options that have yet to be finalized. Thanks for coming through and providing wisdom, reading my rants or just dropping in to mention how this project has influenced some changes in your thinking. This community rocks and though I've been quite inactive as of late, I still swing through weekly and try to comment when I have value to add. Stay up and stay safe.
