So I opened my bloom tent this morning to check on things and give a cal/mag watering. I noticed some of the tops of two plants have this grey mold / fungus dust on them. The top itself Is going all necrotic and dying back.
It seems to only affect the top growth of the plants, not seeing it Further down in the foliage. I took a shot of it through the microscope. Definitely looks like A mold or fungus spore.
Ive seen this before but it always just went away. Any idea what it is, and how I can be proactive in preventing it?

Uh oh 😔

What's your environmental conditions? Hopefully you disinfected your hands before touching anything after taking that pic. Keep in mind that spores are LITERALLY everywhere. They only begin to thrive when conditions are right.

You said you've seen this before but it "goes away". Can you elaborate on that?

So two grows ago. I was noticing top die off. I picked them, and then went on with the grow and the mold/ fungus didn’t come back.
right now, I know that my humidity is too high, I need to mount a dehumidifier in my basement.

Sorry bout that. I’d trash them and clean your tent from top to bottom with bleach\water or some simple green. Then start over when you can get your conditions better. Happy grows.

Oh I hear you mate,
Thats the smart thing to do. But I’m a little more tenacious that that and really don’t want to put 16 weeks down the drain. So the first pict it a top I plucked yesterday. Today I fought back. I emptied the tent. spay and wipe down interior with the non toxic solution, installed floor and fan.
Im had an exhaust fan, but interior fan in the grow hut. Need to continue to drop the humidity. the tempt is good around 74, but rH is off the chart at 94%.
I also installed a raised floor for the hut. I’ve seen some pictures of OD and he has a very nice raise scene going on.
trying learn as I observe.
right now it’s 6 days into the 12/12 bloom lighting. I’d like to keep the fight a little longer before trashing them.

Most issues happen when the lights go out and temps drop. This causes the RH to spike and if your already high humidity it's likely your hitting 90% plus after lights out for a while. I bet if you check about 30min after lights out you have condensate on the walls of the tent.

Good airflow will help prevent mold even at high humidity but the bigger the buds get the more at risk you are. Making sure you have good exhaust and intake is the answer. You may need a dehumidifier in the room the tent sits in. Also keeping the room close to the same temp as the tent gets will reduce this spike. Alot of ppl think in flower you need to be under 50% RH I personally don't believe this. Late flower 50-55% but the real important thing is to control that humidity spike that most don't even realize they have. That fast temp drop is a killer.

With fan and floor working in concert I was able to get the humidity back under control (74%).
I know there is going to be residual mold/ fungus spores in the grow tent.
so the real tricky challenge challenge will be to ensure that through the whole flower phase without creating environmental conditions that would trigger future mold growt.
