Trying to understand watering symptoms

I learned pretty quickly that the ol finger in the dirt thing works for plants in the ground, not so much in pots. As said above, go by weight of the pot if possible. If in doubt, it's probably better to wait a bit before watering again.

The further I get away from fabric pots the more I dislike everything about them. Check out the grass roots pots. They have a plastic liner on the sides down to the bottom couple inches. Put 2” of rock and fill it in with sand and wet it in really good till it is solid. It will act as an aquafur. Then put your soil on top. The fabric pots air prune your roots. As for your soil becoming hydrophobic ad a saponaria extract to your water. Only use 1/10 of your pot size of water.
