Here we go....!

1. Remove the handles! I used metal shears to cut a v and removed. Only need to cut one side. Once you pop the first side out the other side comes right out...

2. Trace Holes..

3. Cut, then trim hole as needed..

4. Stick in buckets and cut then 3-4 inches down.

5. Add netpot lids...

I will be adding drip to this as well, just not pictured..

just use 3gal buckets, forget the net pots, veg them top feed and drop the water level of the tubs to about 2 inch above the bottom of the 3 gal bucket. that way the roots are hitting the water within a day or two and they are established nicely in the 3 gal bucket

Great advice Dizzle! Im going to continue with the netpot lids for now but i do like the 3 gallon bucket idea.

More pics..

First pic is of a bossman erkle. The rest are mostly the 98 bubba with maybe an erkle thrown in there. The last pic is of a 98 bubba in veg waaaay overdue for flower, lol.

Sup Lost... I'm having trouble clicking the Picts to zoom in on my iPhone, but it appears that some of the leaves are either displaying Potassium or Magnesium deficiencies. I'm leaning towards K def and over watering or not enough dissolved oxygen in the tubs... Can you take some shots of the leaves up close and does your camera have a white meter setting so you can remove the yellow cast from the HPS?

Also, what's your pH? Cuz that may be locking out some nutrients...

Could be oxygen... I def had a N defiency early on as well as an MG def.. The bubba did this exact same thing last run, and even tho the results were great last time, i know this is really holding me back. The res temps are 68 but i might not have nuff oxygen running thru. Ill try to get a better pic. I notice that the erkle does not have this issue which had me convinced is needed cal/mg.

Ok so I checked roots.. The Erkle roots looked great. White and fat.. So i checked out the 98 roots and there was 2 pounds of dead roots I removed. I added about 4 x the amount of airstones and air. I did have root problems right after I put her into flower. It looks like it never went away. I removed the offending roots and added the H&G enzyme stuff. Hopefully she will pull thru. The erkle looked great, so it must have been when I contaminated the res, which was before I put the erkle in there (a few days diff into flower).. Dammit, lol..

I'm glad you checked! Sending you positive vibes and good karma. Let us know how the enzyme stuff works...

Ok, so its the morning after I removed the dead portion of the root mass. It was really choking things off. I think I missed this roots death by about a week. The dead roots I removed were pretty much breaking down already. I will try yo get pick but there is still a good sized root mass. Lots and lots of white healthy roots.

So no drooping on the bubba, Yay! I actually think removing the offending rootmass was the way to go. I just hit the end of week 5 so, there is still time. She is already a frosty beast, and I think she will be ok, minus the yield hit :(

I will continue to give root updates. It doesn't seem people document their fuck-ups so I guess I will, hahahh.

Looking good broham! Definitely like the buckets...one of these days I will quit being scared of hydro! lol

Ok, here is a pic of the bubba this morning.. Roots look fantastic after I removed the offending portion. After a res change and tub clening today , I found the cluprit... Cloges airstones.. Something grew on them and totally blocked them.... Dunno how im going to fix this other than cleaning them weekly, but thats a dangerous propasition with plants this heavy.. This thing is 5 and a half feet tall and 6-7 feet around! The pic is about the top 2/3 of it..

I also added a 600 verticle after the pick was taken. Iknow understand the poret of verticle. Once places the enties branches recieved light and lots of it.. Wow.. Im blind now, thx... :mad0233:

The second pic is the 97 bubblegum I harvested a little bud for a special occation coming up. The rest will ripen anoteer week :)

Also wanted to add I bought a pondmaster 100 pump for my upcoming grow... :) This should fix that issue as long as I can get better non-cloging airstones or something...

i use these air stones, never had a problem with them cloging....

Nice, I actually picked up one to test out last week. They seem to work great. Its those damn strip bubblers, the blue ones from walmart.. Go figure...

If you make another tank again do not center your bucket that way it will be more sturdy. If you have proper flow your plant will not know it is offset. JK

Good info.. I also put some of the lines mounted on the short ends not the long ends of the tubs, and have had root incursion problems.

The water is not moving thru the system as fast as it should. There is only 185 gph moving thru the system when i would like to see 500 or more.. I also do not have a res (im using 2 tubs with no plants in them for a res..), and for my next grow, ill rebuild and correct the errors :) I also need more air, but the pondmaster 100 should fix that..

i used those my 1st dwc setup, they clog up and break after awhile total waste of money..

lost forget the 500gph, i would try a 1200gph. i dont think you will have any problems with anything clogging with the pondmaster100, your actually going to be overwhelmed by the air coming out of the stones, its retarded
