Couldnt recomend cana enough.It really is good medium stable and little work. What more can u need.

Canna coco is the solution to dirtbag growers wanting to automate. It is truly the best all around medium available in my opinion. I am presently on my 3rd run with the same batch of coco and I swear it when I say that the results are getting progressively better.

Canna coco= best overall consistency
Botanicare Coco Gro= Fluffy out of the bag, but not as consistent (more clumps of fiber).

hey konig,
U never have any problems using coco a 2nd time? .I was told that it can only be used once then flung. I ve seen products for cleaning the coco and tried it twice but in my opionion the 2nd time even after i cleaned with stuff i bought(cant remember name a kind of enzime or somit im not sure) i didnt get good enough results but every time i replace coco it shows none of the problems i had. For me that is the only bad thing bout it is humfing the big bags about lol.

Hey Chem, I was curious after reading your post, so I filled a 6" coco pot wth B'Cuzz Premium Coco Coir. I put a small bucket under the pot and ran water though it until it started to drain out of the bottom. I then checked the ppm and ph of the little bit of water in the bucket. The ppm was 215 ( that tap water is 30ppm) and the ph was 6.5 ( the tap is 6.5). I am not sure why my results are different than yours. Maybe it is your water or meter or something. It could also be that the water in my trial was slightly deluted.
Anyway, just wanted to share my results.

very intersting thread. I have done run off test using 10ppm ro water on Bio-Bizz Coco which is what my local shop carries for about $20 a bag that came out 180-200 ppm's. I was testing it against some canna coco and the canna was only 20 ppms lower. Currently I'm using canna coco thats used once already, didn't really hit it with cannazym, just left the 3 gal bags in the backyard for like 5 months. So now there in 3 gal Gro Pots, which is the same material as a smart pot, using DM gold with add.27 and vermi-t and the plants look great.

Venom, I run straight canna coco and have no problems with water retention. Coco is supposed to stay damp. No standing water, but damp. Its a substitute hydro medium really, not a soil substitute.

So far, I have tried Bcuz, Canna and Cocotek and there are some huge differences as shown here with the salt content of the crappy Bcuz coco. Just looking at the coco out of the bag and you can tell the difference. Canna is the best quality coco coir I have come across. I prefer coir over blocks anyday although blocks are very hydro friendly as opposed to the coir route which is usually in pots and hand watered.

Recently, I checked out different nutrients to use with the Canna coir because I wanted to see just how well they compared. Ofcourse I would assume that Canna nutrients would be best with their coir however in my most recent grow it seems like I may have a new favorite nutrient company. I tried Canna's regular A&B, PK, Rhizotonic, Boost regiment and had good results. Then tried some coco nutrients from Hydrotek, GH and got turned on to one from my friend in Amsterdam called Hesi. Found a shop online selling them at half the price I was paying for my Canna nutrients and wow! Got better results with the Hesi regiment. Anyone here had a similar experience?

royal gold coco is great ....
its steamed so not bio active like canna (i like canna best)

but mr green who owns the company is a great guy and the product is half the price ...

i live in hawaii and have been making my own coco out of whats available here. i throw it in the chipper i soak it in pond enzyme and wash it until ppm are square after a month soak........

sounds like alot of work but its all over the place here in hawaii ...

if you guys dont use phospho load or shooting powder you can always enzyme it and wash it . i have used canna 6 times with no loss of quality or yeild ...

coco rules !!!!!!!!! i have never looked back ....and im getting close to the bucket kids in terms of yield...

canna really is the industry leader tho and im pretty sure they pioneered the use of an a/b with coco medium.

I have always reused my coco. I find it's better after the first run. I just use clearex or something similar to rinse it before the next use. No problem.

As for best Coco. I love the Empire line. ppm of 10 right out of the bag.

I've had good luck with several brands of coco. I'm currently using some no-name bricks from a local garden center that look exactly like the GH cocotek bricks.

But no matter which brand or type I'm using I always put it in a bucket with a bunch of holes drilled in the bottom and rinse the heck out of it. A garden hose works well but I've also used my kitchen sprayer and my shower. (I've got one of the hand-held shower heads) I just rinse the heck out of it a few times per day over a few days and then another quick rinse in the pot when I'm going to use it. No big deal and no problems so far.

I live in Canada near Toronto and most of the shops here carry Coco Earth. I have been using it for several months now and havent had any problems. When I started using coco I didnt even know some brands might need to be washed, so I never washed the Coco Earth and no probs.

I use Roots Organics Soil-less witch is: Coco fiber, perlite, pumice, worm castings, bat guano, kelp meal, oyster shell flower, green sand, soluble kelp, glacial rock dust, and leonardite.

So its just coco with a few additives. Works great for me, but I have a couple bags of Canna that I will try on the next run. I aim to try straight Canna with no perlite or any additives.

Anyone know of any issues with HG Aqua in Coco? I'm in the process of switching from per/verm hempies to coco/per hempies and I've noticed the leaves are a much lighter green. I run about 10-15 ml cal/mag with the complete HG line and if I didn't know better I would think I have some type of lock out. Ph is perfect, used canna and washed the shit out of it, so I'm assuming it's the Aquaflakes Kinda stumped. I really want to get behind the coco so I don't have to water so much but gotta get a hold of this before we get into flower. Any ideas? Maybe I should attach a pic.

I still consider myself a noob to all of this but 10-15 ml Cal/mag sounds really high. The directions for Botanicares Cal/Mag say 5ml per gal. Same thing with GO's CaMg+. It sounds to me as though you have WAY too much CalMag in that mix.
