UC stage fright?

So, i have little experience with what goes on in my room during the dark period, as i assume is the general case for most growers... today we received a freak out when we went into our (dark) UC room for an inspection. seeing as everything was back to 100% turgidity a few hours later im thinking its some kind of "stage fright."

Now that my attention has been drawn to this i have noticed in trying to take pics at night that they seem more droopy, but today was crazy. It looked like extreme toxicity.

Anyway, anyone else see this going on? From what i can tell after the lights go out there is an initial droop, that slowly recovers to turgidity by lights on. Almost like they were growing so hard they needed a rest...

(the pics were not taken at the peek of the droop, it got significantly worse then that.)

Mine droop quite a bit at night. I can see them begin to get "tired" about an hour before lights out.

Very interesting, I never been in the room during dark hours. Think I will get a green light and check out my ladies, is this pretty common and if so is there a technical name for the "droop"?

my plants were drooping the last two hours so i just changed my lighting from 18/6 to 16/8. seemed like they had had enough for the day and needed rest.

makes sense, did they stop drooping before bedtime?

During lights on, the leaves and branches "reach" for the light, which is what we are all used to seeing. At night they just relax is all, its normal.

I was told that the reason the leaves droop is because a large percentage of the moisture moves to the root system at night, that is also one of the main reasons people chop during the dark period as less moisture in the top of the plant. And than again it might have been a dream.

A couple of my plants started drooping at the end of the day. The roots were starting to get a little tan/brown so I added a couple scoops of Great White. A couple days later most of the plants in the system were drooping by the end of the day and it became very severe at night. I sterilized the res with Down Under HF and the next day no droop at all. I ran the HF for a few more days, did a res change and added Aquasheild like I normally do. No droop since (just a tiny bit at night).

It seemed in my situation the roots were becoming over colinized by bennies and the roots were not getting as much oxygen as they needed. Sterilizing the res gave everyting a chance to get back in ballence.

It has also been my observation that the plants don't grow as quickly when they are drooping at the end of the day. Try sterilizing the res and reballancing...

Right before lights out my girls exhibit drooping. Not sure if cooler temps play a part also....

All C3 plants droop their leaves in the evening. There is no reason for them to raise their leaves to orient them toward the light when there is none, just conserving energy.

That looks very familiar. When I first saw the "stage fright" my girls were almost 7ft tall.. I about had a heart attack.. I didn't sleep all night, just waiting for those lights to come on and show me everythibgs gonna be ok.. Man I'm glad they at least got some sleep... :)

I wonder if the water level has anything to do with the drooping?
