Fewer bulbs, using less watts, but still producing the same light pressure at leaf level. Neat, huh?

So in my bloom room I can go from eight bulbs to four on my 4-4'x8' trays and get rid of my four 8' cooling fans using the Gavita Pro system?

What about my veg room? Continue to use the current set-up and not change?

Rather than spending the money for this system, what about investing in the new Red Spectrum bulbs?

The Gavita 1k has a 4x6 footprint. One per table will not be enough. I want to use the De's over some custom size troughs. Read through Texas kid's watts per sqft thread. Whazzup breaks it down.

every setup is dif,but i run cooltubes about 6-8" above my canopy on movers so my girls are gettin pretty high lumens from my 600 watters.i run mostly digilux @ 95,000 lumen.how many lumen does the 600 gavita put out tyy?i been lookin at those double ended 1000 bulbs but man would i have some serious tweakin to do in my garden to run them.one of these days ima buy a decent light meter.i got about 10 dif gardens i could visit to compare setups with my stuff.still the best grow i have seen in person is just 1000 eye horts in the radiant 8 ,nothing fancy but he has them on about 30" centers :)

Oneflip has the link. You'll do best with the DE on 5' centers. Their lumen output per watt is the best in the industry. Spectrum is considered excellent for HPS bulbs. You're getting more light per watt spent, but you will still need to actively ventilate or cool the space.

And I bet that guy with the hortis had all the rest of the deets in his op on lock, right? It's not just about what's making the light, it's what you do with that light that counts!

Excellent illustration of the weakest link theory. There is no point in getting sexy gear if a grower is still struggling with the basics.

Oh... but I wouldn't reduce the amount of bulbs or wattage. I'd just swap out my current bulbs for Gavitas. Does a 1000 watt Gavita run significantly cooler than a typical 1000 watt HPS?

Not cooler. Just brighter. And, these double ended bulbs last much longer; they're guaranteed to last at least two full years with a cumulative lumen loss of 5% or less. These are Philips' own specifications. Just in case your math bone was tickled, yes- this amounts to an enormous increase in electrical efficiency, even when regular bulb changes for the old type are factored in.

How enormous? The difference pays for the system in the first year. That's with cheap power at ten cents a kWh. The more your power costs, the faster it will pay you back.

I read on a gavita ad earlier that the 600 bulb only loses 5% after 5000 hours.. I thought that was just for the new de bulb. Does this apply to the 600 as well? I guess I could have looked this up in the same amount of time it's taken me to type this out.. but its so much more fun to ask. What the hell..Another post down..4887 to go!

At 300 a pop which is what midwestdensies paid for them (I think 50 over cost). Btw.. He rocked it with 6's. killed it. Check out Harlem's hideout.. It doesn't make sense to buy any other set up.. I get the dual luma's / super sun with a ushio bulb for for around 325 per light. Its a good price but if theres a chance with the 6's having an extended bulb life with only 5% loss.. im going to have to save the 25 and go with the G6. <--Ill coin that nickname:) I haven't been quoted a firm price on the 1k de's. I'm guessing around 425 - 450. I have read a couple reviews that the 1k's put out a little hot spot underneath. But the people that have them love em. Like tty said.. Efficiency pays for itself.

Finally am at a stopping point in this upgrade. Still waitin on the other 4 Solis Tek Matrix 1000's to come in so I can completely finish but its done for right now. Didn't think I was ever gonna get this damn thing finished. Heres a few pics of the progress.

New breaker box with 100 amps and a 3ton AC unit dedicted to the flower room. The ducting ran down the middle of the room and the remote thermostat which will allow me to ck/adjust temps w/o having to open the door.

I went with Vortex inline fans....I'll have 2 8in Vortex on each light run. One will be on the outside of the room drawing in cool air from an outside room and the other will be rt after the last light pulling air down the light run and exhausting into 10in hard ducting and then into 12in to be exhausted outside.

Okay, I'm impressed! My own preference is for water chilling a garden, but I know a professional grade installation when I see one. I'll be watching to see how well your set-up managed both temps and humidity.

Thanks ttystikk. They've been under the 4k all morning and temps haven't risne over 77 and max RH last night during lights off was 56%....def gonna be keeoin an eye on that carefully the next few days. Thanks bro. MGG
