just got a call from a buddy, who was at the UPS store and the new proceedure starting today is......anyone shipping packagesthru UPS(Brown) MUST show a valid ID with the same addy and shipper Info on it.

I will not show ID to ship a package, ever.

Well, just look at what's happening to that Assange guy who runs WikiLeaks.

My stance is nothing like that, I like having the healthy cleansing light of day shined upon our government's nefarious activities. But, they've got him, whoever "they" are (acting at the behest of our behemoth selves).

i keep forgetting how evil America is. your right its probably better that we put every soldier or diplomat at risk so we can know whats going on.

Every soldier? Ok Kid, that's gotta be a joke, right? Don't worry, everyone has caved.

UPS:

http://www.bloomberg.com/news/2010-...il-shipping-as-bombs-spur-security-steps.html

http://www.npr.org/blogs/thetwo-way...-ids-from-customers-who-want-to-ship-anything

and this one from The Consumerist which contains my favorite line of the day:
http://consumerist.com/2010/12/now-you-need-photo-id-to-ship-a-ups-package.html

"Because there's nothing that stops fraud or terrorism like being made to show a photo ID, UPS has announced that customers will need to show a government-issued ID when shipping that tin of cookies to their Aunt Mable for her 90th birthday.

"The policy, which comes as a response to those explosive devices shipped on a cargo plane in October, covers all UPS customers who aren't using a pre-printed shipping label at any retail outlet where the parcel company picks up packages.

"Says a UPS VP, who probably got the job for looking really sexy in brown shorts:

"Since retail centers experience a significant increase in business from occasional shippers during the busy holidays, this enhancement adds a prudent step in our multilayered approach to security."

"We don't know about you, but between this news and Walmart's partnership with Homeland Security, we certainly feel safer."

the guy did nothing more then snitch and now that they got him hes gonna snitch once again and give up his sources if we can get to him. we need to look beyond this moment and think about what affect this is gonna have on us. whats done is done we cant change the past.

sorry for the hijack

so what is safe? i need to send myself some medical relief for the holidays. there is no DHL center near me at all. Fedex? USPS? i remember hearing a long time ago that the "private" shipping companies are still subsidized by the usGOV and actually subject to more search than the USPS because they have more $$ th USPS is in a state of decline still due to email destroying the stamp and so supposedly its easy to get stuff through them. My main hesitation is that you have to go INSIDe there to send the box and they have you on camera in a fed. building.

any thoughts on this anyone?

I got caught by surprise with this a few days ago. Was shipping something a little nefarious as well. He didn't match up the addresses or anything, it was like he was checking to see if I was over 18 or something. It was an overnight package.

Hey Seamaiden, in your opinion should Bradley Manning be in jail?

"man im really not trying to be a recluse but society is just so fucking stupid nowadays "

i am. come on up to the mountain steve, we'll puff one. :cool0044:

Go to USPS and get the white boxes you pre pay for. Nobody checks them, you pre pay for the box and shipping which is included. Put whatever you need to ship in the box and put it in there bin at the USPS.
These are the white boxes that they have a commercial for on tv. Just make sure whatever you send is packeged real well. Sometimes they sit in there bin for a day or two, you do not want a shitty packing job or it will smell up the place.

this guy is funded by osi[open society institute] which in-turn is funded by george soros-the 23rd richest man in the world whose goal is a socialistic society [those happen to be his very own words] what this boils down to is the breaking down of society as a hole which wikileaks goal of anarchy is winning look at europe right now its one big f-n riot and the people you can thank are the elitests and the progressives for that ///and they wanna socialize the u.s. come-on we need to stand up and start taking back our liberties that we as a society have given up as a whole for the fake notion of safety and a false freedom i actully herd a man ask a woman if she was willing to give up some of her liberties for freedom and she was like fuck ya where do i sign up//// are you serious YOUR LIBERTIES ARE YOUR FREEDOM//i agree that assange and the leaker should be tried for treasonus acts and i also agree with seamaiden of wanting to know the govts dirty lil secrets just time is not right for it unless we are willing to rebuild what is beginning to crumble at the very foundations of the american society a free society

ohh thaty suks but theres still ways around it like paying someone to send the package or just doing it yourself its not like they open the packages with-out a very good reason [they could get sued if wrong]

you cant charge a non us citizen with treason against the United States, kind of a problem

I think like 420 I have very mixed feelings about whats going on with wikileaks - scary game changing shit thats coming out - some good some bad

for instance the leaks about China being sick of the spoiled child tyrant north korea really puts a different face on that whole situation

but there has been plenty of shit leaked that puts people in danger

not trying to hijack - still trying to figure how the ups thing had anything to do with the wikileaks guy as well
