Has anyone ever tried using a UV water filter on their nutrient solution? I've been thinking about the idea of trying out a UV pond filter on my hydroponics to help extend the use of nutrient water. Like maybe setting up a smart plug to run it once a day or once a week for an hour.

I haven't but if I remember correctly it can cause iron to precipitate out??? Don't quote me but something to look into

Interesting article about that here. Basically it destroys the chelated iron that makes it unavailable as a micronutrient. Another good article about chelated iron here. So maybe adding some chelated iron like this after each sterilization could possibly extend the life of nutrient water(?). I think I might have to try this someday.
