Hey y’all!

So I’m using UVB and a little UVA in one tent, and not in the other one, just to see if there’s truly any noticeable differences in aroma or quality!

I have some Strawberry Diesel x Strawberry Lemonade running in week 7 as of today, and started using the UV yesterday in the middle of the cycle for an hour.

I’m considering running like 5 minute bursts for a total of two hours through the middle of the cycle.

Regardless, I’ve seen a lot of people say they’ve used it, but never really show any of their results!

So I’m going to post it here.

Not sure what to post in the way of photos, but here are some shots of the “treated” buds, and I’ll keep posting as time goes on the next two weeks.

Nice work. Those look great. ✌️

Likewise. To me, it's only a curiosity, so far. I haven't seen enough to convince me to invest and experiment. I do wonder if this part of the spectrum affects nutrient needs of the plants, in particular regarding Mg.

I think Newty is running some of the reds in a tent. He might have some info on it. Not sure if he has a complete run under them though.

I'm in. I love a good comparison! I have a UV channel on my light but I'm not sure if it's UV a or b. maybe next run use the UV during the entire grow to see if that has any serious impact. I was checking out some articles @GNick55 was linking that are saying the more beneficial method for using UV was for the entire grow. I was very interested in this and I think on my next auto run I am going to start with the full spectrum channel on and see what happens. Some peeps say it will cause adverse reactions like stretching. 🤔 I'm excited to see the outcome

Cool photo with lights off because you can’t see the uv otherwise…can barely tell it’s even turned on!!
I have UV/IR bars (mars hydro bars to fit FC-E8000) haven’t noticed a major difference running them vs not myself

Looks cool though lol

Will be cool to see the difference between UVA/UVB side by side though what’s the nm ranges of the UV’s?

Maybe I’ll get em back on the timer tomorrow they are up and hangin on the light just not on

(Old pic not set up on this config anymore)

When I did run them it was first 30 min of lights on, 1 hour at 6 hour mark of lights on (noon on light cycle time in flower) then again for last 30 minutes

That was the only way I’ve ran them so far

I use the MIGRO 310 because it’s a fluorescent tube, and not a LED.

The way it was described to me was…

“We want to replicate the sun, right? Well. What’s the sun? A burning ball of gas…and what’s a fluorescent tube? A burning ball of gas! This is the best was to provide a large amount of UVB radiation, and not just UVA with a tad of UVB. The tubes put out over 75% UVB radiation! All I’m saying is, UVB is very hard and very expensive to replicate with LEDs because you’re forcing electricity through plastic to create light, and I bet if you ask these light manufacturers what percentage of UVB they’re providing with LEDs they’d have to tell you not that much OR riiiigghhhhtt on the edge of the spectrum for UVB. Tubes all the way bro. You won’t regret it!”

-Commercial Facility Manager

SO! I’m trying it out small scale first to see what actually works, and next (if this doesn’t work lol) I’ll go the LED route! But I thought that was interesting.

This tube covers from 310nm through 400nm!

tubes are a lot more powerful than LEDs, I chose LEDs so I could run it full light cycle instead of just in bursts. Need to get another for the veg tent, so as of now mine only get it full light during the entirety of the flip

Oh yeah!
I didn’t really consider that it fits with your existing fixture!
Glad you said that man.

I’m trying a different pattern than the normal 3ish hours mid cycle though.
Just to try and figure this thing out because even the manufacturers don’t know the whole story with UV lol.

So I run it in weird intervals lol.

15 mins an hour after lights on, 30 mins 3 hours after lights on, 2.5 hours 6 hours after lights on, 30 mins 9 hours after lights on, and 5 mins 1.5 hours before dark.
🤷🏻🤞🏻

Ever notice how frosty some lowers get?
Maybe my lights too intense sometimes?
🧐

So far…after one week of UVB…

Holy moly…

The trichome density is super high, but the really cool thing is the SMELL!

The UVB has increased and upgraded the smell!

It’s like fresh strawberries and cream with a sort of chemmy undertone.

Really cool.

Yeah.

I’m a believer for sure!

It’s almost like it brings out the full potential of the terpene profile or something.

would you consider those girls in the last 3 pics ready to chop?
i've never had a second opinion on when the trikes look done.

Not yet, but I prefer mine to have more amber.

Just depends on why you’re growing!

Washing?
Flower?
Edibles?

Just depends.

Also….

Trichomes must stay cloudy for a little longer than most people think they do because that photo was taken at like 45ish days, and it’s a 60-62 day finisher!
