Hey I suppose if Marion Barry was reelected any thing is possible ? crack - hookers and reelected awesome .........
If we are "stuck" with repubs and dems how is voting going to change anything? It's no matter if 100 people vote or 10 million people vote we still get a repub or a dem and end up with the same result.
The point I'm making is that there is a legal recourse citizens may take by which a nominee can be presented whom is neither democrat nor republican--they may then vote for that nominee and elect them. Thus, electing a person who doesn't belong to either party. It can be done, we're just not doing it.
...and we as citizens do this, regularly. Where are all those third party candidates now? Oh yeah- twisting in the wind because the real power- vested in the party apparatus itself- sees absolutely nothing to be gained by working with them.
Hence the bureaucracy- and the status quo- remain intact, undisturbed.
You've yet to put forward any real suggestions to combat that, which is the real challenge to American politics- and our future as a nation.

seriously squiq when has any official ever been elected besides a rep or dem - I personally can't think of any that even got a few votes besides Ron Paul and where are they gonna get all the big advertising dollars - a seed auction maybe ?
A out of the box thought - maybe eliminating the zillions of dollar candidates waste of commercial throwing stones at each other they take that money and feed the hungry , cloth the poor, keep the dept under control , take care of disabled vets , hell build a damn playground, eliminate advertising for candidacy and get out and visit the people for free and not in a private jet either........
The real question is how can you be sure your vote is even counted? now that all voting is done electronicallyAgree, but as you said this just feeds back into the argument which says we need to elect people who will change these things.
Exactly. You're making my point for me.
We bitch and moan about the dysfunction in Washington (me too), and yet we stand motionless and negligent as to what burdens lay at our feet. The problem you have laid out here is OUR problem. Congress isn't supposed to fix it, the president isn't, nor the many judges. It's for us to do. That it's not been fixed is OUR failure and it, yet, remains OUR job to fix it.
This is the basis of our country's operation. The buck stops here, so to speak. We don't have to like it, but yes--we are supposed to participate in government. Most people, even those who vote, are simply disinterested.
In on my phone so I didn't read all the posts here
Bu I can't believe some of you still think there I a deference b tween dems and reps
They all are royalty to us and we are peasants to them
The title of this thread is wage slaves
They pay workers with money that looses value and take half of it back in taxes
For what?
Their protection?
From who?
The people with real power are not the ones that we vote for
The bankers run this country and most of the so called free world
If you pay 50% taxes you are a slave in my book
And the phoney money they pay you with is worth less every day
SQUIGGLY AND DEEPTHOUGHT AT THE VOTING CENTER...
I for One, Like the Story! This could become a "Classic"... You got "The Gift" Deepthought :woot:
Deepthought shook his head and left Squiggly to beat on his dead horse.
