CANDLER — Authorities seized more than 3,000 grams of marijuana as well as poppies and mushrooms from the home of a medical marijuana advocate, according to a search warrant.
Authorities with the Buncombe County Anticrime Task Force executed a search warrant at the English Drive home of Monroe Gordon Piland III, 68, on Oct. 22, according to a search warrant at the Buncombe County magistrate's office written by Agent David L. Flanagan.
The Task Force learned about a possible marijuana growing operation at the home's garage from a worker with the Buncombe County Department of Social Services, the warrant states. Agents could smell marijuana coming from the garage when they arrived, according to the warrant.
