Not a fan of that approach, you spend 10-15 days drying then dip it in water? šŸ¤”
I feel like there could be a processing that could be a better option. But im inexperienced enough to not know🤣

like could you do a ISO wash with the herb and end up with a decent product? or even make a hash with it?

Bear, making hash might be a damn good idea. Plus the press might help eliminate some, not all, chlorophyll.
Also else fails- go to edibles!

Im not that experienced myself but my brother n law cleaned his outdoor harvest rinsing his buds before hanging them to dry. (Have to find pics of that) And I think it fucked up the final outcome a bit. He rinsed them, added some lemon and peroxide mix in there .. 😐 I was like ....dude! And yeah .. final product was less to be desired..🤣 was his show..what could I do but watch the slowest train wreck ever🤣

Q: Whats the best tool for removing chlorophyll from cannabis?

A: Time.

Throw it in a Grove Bag, zip it up and forget about it for six months. Unfortunately most of us just don't have the patience to do a good cure. Or we think that's too long and it would be old weed by then when really it's just getting good.

Water curing, I guess if your going through that much trouble why not make bubble hash or something? Chiming what I think a couple others have said, I've heard it strips the smell and taste out of it so I don't know what would be left that you might find pleasant other than the buzz.

Oh snap! I did a dunk wash on mine a week or so before harvest to try and get rid of aphids or some pets i dont remember! But damn! You gotta be careful from my understanding when using the h202! And to add anything with scent at that point, I wouldn’t even think about! Like im spraying my dr bronners saop with the peppermint smell in it and even that weirds me out and my plants still have a few months to go!

I'm wondering how soaking deactivates chlorophyl. Could it be a lack of oxygen?
I'm guessing the water sucks it out, reason why they suggest you change it on the daily. Seems like it would take some terps with it too. The link Gmix shared says it's a purer product but at the cost of reduced aroma and flavor.

I figured water would act as a solvent, so this process would be somewhat like an infusion. I wondered in an earlier post whether THC precursors might also be removed. My curiosity will only be satisfied by trying water curing. We'll be harvesting next in early October, so it'll have to wait till then. I'll be looking to see how much the water turns green.

One big thing to like about curing in two weeks is the two weeks. My thinking is that chlorophyll is either removed or deactivated. When kept in a jar, it isn't removed, so it must be deactivated somehow. So, if there were an efficient way to deactivate it, a better curing process could put it to use. I thought of oxygen deprivation because sealed jars are so commonly used, and oxygen is so reactive. Do vacuum-sealed jars or bags cure weed faster?

That's also intriguing. It may be a cost but could also be a benefit, depending on use.

Anyway... Thanks for the interesting topic @Gmix. This will give me something to think about. I can't try it for a long while, though.

Chlorophyll itself is not water-soluble and a water cure will not remove it. However, chlorophyll breaks down into many different catabolites, some of which are water-soluble. Those catabolites, salts, sugars, and other water-soluble chemicals will all be removed during water curing.

Thanks. I was wondering about the process. I might be inclined to try it with some of our next harvest.

Would this make it better for cooking with it? We like to make tincture, but the taste only goes well with a few things. I'm thinking removing the taste & smell would add many new possibilities.
You know what it would and i never fought about it.now i have to do it too see hoe much better the chocolate will be

I wonder how my pressed pucks will they or will they not...

I put my fresh weed underwater then after that i did a week drying

Yea my old fridge packs didnt taste a lot like weed after almost a year in storage but still made strong edibles

Sorry for spaming i might have smoked too much

Oh I'd love to not get skunk farts from the pulp in my brownies, that's for sure... And my wife concurs!
Not to mention the neighbors, I'd wager. 😁

My plan is to try water curing next harvest to use in a tincture. That won't be till October. A flavorless tincture would be nice.

@LoveGrowingIt

I believe you put buds in for 6 days not 15

@Week4Bytch
The method was originally just something some growers did well back years ago back in the 80s I knew folk who did on overgrow
not to remove chlorophyll just a different method they enjoyed there words it being a smoother smoke had a small following

Not saying I support it or not , never tried it
Allbeit like you I don’t think I’ll do it due to loss of flavour & taste
