For the biologists on the forum.
Would it be possible to inoculate Potassium Polyacrylate crystals with bio-fungicides before mixing with potting soil.

This is for an outdoor grow.

My aim is to defeat the verticillium and whatever else plagues my plants.
Would the bio-good guys be killed off by the polymer?
Would this be feasible?

Totally feasible if you use a wettable powder like RootShield or another product with Trichoderma in it. Bacillus Subtillis is another good option but usually in a concentrated liquid like Serenade.

Both of these organisms are very robust and will be fine incorporating into the polyacrylate.

Verticillium is a tough one to fight though!

It's a great idea you've got there let us know how it goes! ๐Ÿ’š

Thanks much.
I use:
Cease which has Bacillus subtilis
Tenet which has Trichoderma asperellum
Howler which has Pseudomonas chlororaphis
LAL Stop which has Gliocladium catenulatum

Thinking I could make a solution of all and dump the crystals in it until they soak it all up, then mix with potting soil.

I have had fungal issues in large gardens when I tilled a lot more property. I was a lazy gardener at first and neither rotated crops or really even checked my soil. The property is old agriculture and the soil is still pretty hot.
I had a 3 year period where I lost 1/3 of the tomatoes and some runners. At the feed store I was singin the blues about this and some guys chimed in
" Hey on your tomato patch you wanna clear out that blight you gotta burn it out"
The old fella had seen my property and knew I ran burn piles. He told me you gotta basically sterilize the soil with a hot burn pile and then rebuild the soil. when I burn pile I use wet canvas tarps to basically run a giant smoker to keep the fire low and slow to make char and P K.
I have not done this in 8 years and the pile I have will take 7-10 days and I am sure the 5 new houses put up within a 1/4 mile are gunna love it.
PS burn piles are a Prepper staple.

Thanks, makes sense. Similar to solarization.
How far down does that sterilize? 5-6 inches? A foot?
The tap roots of these cannabis plants go down pretty far.

I did have much healthier tomato plants after spraying the soil with biofungicides. But it's a continuing battle.
(and yes, I keep planting them in the same place every year, even tho' I know I'm not supposed to.)

Depends on the size of the pile.
Honestly the one in my yard pics is way out of hand. If I make char it's 6 inches. If I were to sterilize with that pile it would be a slurry pile 2 feet deep that would cost me $$$$ to have fixed. The remains would have no value and would need to be buried or trucked out.

What do you think about adding some micronized biochar to the solution?
Just trying to keep the little critters alive longer.

I think you are on the cutting edge of some promising science!
