A lot of terps come from the light.
And a lot of terps are preserved with low heat.and a shit tone of terps are saved with proper drying. Soo

I periodically supplement with liquids in case I bottom out my EC during a watering, and to offer mixed availability between microbes and added ionized minerals. I grow outdoors and microbes can have good days and bad days. The liquids I add are just a buffer to ensure the plants have what they need if microbes won't give it to them.

Good or bad, with living soil and liquid nutes being stacked on, I'm definitely checking what's going on in the soil. There are better, easier ways but I want to know exactly what's going on in the root zone and I get it by looking.

They take what they need and what they don't accumulates as mineral salts (excess food). When you water, that salt excess gets migrated out of the soil, presuming you use an appropriate volume of water, but not so much that the bottom drops out on your EC. Once you know this, I don't know why you wouldn't want to be occasionally checking your soil runoff to ensure you've got the right amount of water to make the EC fall within an optimal range every time. When you're able to do that without checking and then any time you actually do check it is in range, then it's safe to say you've dialed in the microbial feedback loop.
They take more than what they need thats why nute burn is a thing, wether youre going organic or not. Those salts are water soluble and every time you water even if its only water theyre taking nutes. I presume you are working with big pots as they dont present that problem nearly that easily but try to ammend heavily a small pot and see how the plants starts showing toxicity, Im speaking from experience, if Ive burned them with only water and ammendments anyone can.
In big pots, everything is more lax. You have tons of PH buffers and nutrient buffers and way more roots and a bigger plant.
Also if youre checking EC then you can make sure youre always dialed in but why would you check it if nute burn wasnt a thing? Sure, salts kill microorganisms but nute burn can kill the plants or lower yields very drastically.

Lets say that you ammend your soil super heavily and youre getting high EC readings after watering because the organic matter is already being decomposed by microorganisms. What you will do instead of saying "fuck it" and plant them anyway, assuming you know before planting them, is "dilute" that soil. Once there's too many ammendments and the plant is growing, you cant simply flush, youre kinda fucked, been there. You watch them every day and hope for the best. Thats why I dont use small pots anymore too, I like growing organic with ammendments and then finishing them off with liquid organic nutes if needed or if I see they can eat more without complains, growing organic in small pots is a pain in the ass, and even my 7 gal I feel are too small to fully benefit from the comodities that organic offers, but I have limited space. I could use a big pot, train the plant and then go to flower, but then its gonna be waaay more than 3 months and I smoke a lot hahahaha

While I was in the middle of that rant I was gonna mention the bigger the pot the more it takes care of itself, for sure. And yes putting liquids in with the soil organics is the fastest way to fry your plants, I think the best thing is maybe dont warn newbs at all, that's a lesson best learned when you suffer the consequences firsthand.

I've evolved to using liquid nutes in very, very small doses like a multivitamin with a meal, not a main course. And I've got two goals in mind: Offering them something to snack on if there's any dips in microbe availability, and also giving the ratio a gentle nudge to where it should be based on age. When I say light maybe I ought to say just how light I mean. Our tap is .8 and a feeding is around 1.1. I'm not feeding the plant, in just trying to keep it from cannibalizing itself if it happens to get hungry. So like I said, I do more feeding of the microbes than the plant. An approach akin to fertilizing the grass the cow is going to eat that you are going to make a tomahawk steak out of.

Good points, the bigger the pot the more self regulating.

I clocked a 9999 EC reading once, that hot enough for you? Pen couldnt tell me how hot, it was maxed out! 🤣
Yeah those plants got fried even with a flush, it was just too much, lost 2 but saved one with a different approach, I repotted in some recovery soil. I got valuable insight from that screw up so I wouldn't cal it a failure. More like Elon Musk's "Rapid Unscheduled Disassembly." 🤣

I disagree because of potential downsides for them and for the grower community. That said, I believe being careful not to overwhelm them with theories or specific practices is helpful. Maybe what might be best would be to help them have a successful outcome, so they're encouraged to keep growing.

Also if you get carried away and amend to heavily like i did on my first batch you can cut it with regular potting soil like happy frog to smooth it out a little.

Organic has many things that synthetic nutrients dont have. Vitamins, hormones, aminoacids, etc... all of those goodies you can only find in organic liquid nutrients or ammendments. The composition of Iguana Juice, the organic liquid I use when my super soil depletes, has the same ingredients that a good soil ammendment so when you say liquids it depends. Also almost nobody would prefeer outdoors over indoors and theyve been bred like that for decades now so they are kinda used to growing indoors too and usually produce better buds since you can control the parameters instead of being at the mercy of nature.
You are right. Most of todays genetic have been grown and bred inside for decades

If you do happen to over dress your pot, using humic or fulvic acid along with a microbial boost (Recharge is my go to) can help tone it gown considerably.

I have years of experience growing and after starting this hobby I quickly realized the best way to grow is with soil that contains sufficient nutrients to grow bud using water only. Nature has been doing it this way for millions of years and it's classic human arrogance to think that you can improve upon the way cannabis is meant to be grown-the way it evolved to grow. I understand that indoor growing under lights is unnatural but beyond that I like to keep everything as organic as possible. When I use pesticide I make a homemade neem oil concoction to spray the plants with, but I grow strong plants with good pest resistance and don't usually need pesticide. I use gnatrol WDG larvicide for the first couple waterings to prevent fungus gnat problems but other than that the plants receive nothing but nice clean water. In some respects I'm still ignorant of growing. For example, I don't even know what the ideal ph is because I've never needed to know that to grow strong plants that produce good weed. I just find quality soil, start my seeds, and water the proper amount from seed to harvest. For years I've been using roots organics soil but next run I'm gonna try KIS(Keep it Simple) organic soil cause it's tailored specifically for people who grow water only. There will be those that disagree but I believe that to make the finest cannabis possible it's best to stick to the way Mother Nature intended to grow plants rather than giving liquid feedings.
Feed the soil, not the plant. iykyk

I'll just drop these for starters:

It's a matter of whether or not you can tell what's good. Back when TGA was a thing, TGA strains like Jillybean and Jack the Ripper grown water only is the best weed I've ever had and I've smoked a lot of weed.

I don't think there's anything wrong with using big pots in the interest of organic growing. I'm doing a 12/12 from seed SOG with the plants in 1 gallon fabric pots, pretty big for 12/12 from seed.

What was the worst type of weed you smoked? Or did you only ever do water only?

I'm saying my worst grow was when I grew seeds that came from a hydro op. I still grew the seeds myself but the weed was shitty because of where the seeds came from. It still looked good and had a strong effect but in no way did it compare to my Bubblelicious or Jack the Ripper in terms of quality. Back when it was legal to sell to dispensaries I'd get 2600 a pound for the Bubblelicious

Hydro is human arrogance, thinking we know what's best for the plant better than Nature does. Just because hydro requires a higher level of precision and expertise doesn't mean it produces better weed.
No its not. At this point its harder trying to replicate a good harvest outdoors. Who ever prefeered outdoors weed over indoors? Nobody unless that outdoors is a fucking beast full of trichomes. Look, for example, why do you think that we indoors growers swap to 12/12 in one day instead of gradually decreasing light? Faster, more efficient, no negative effects. Same with controlling the climate in your tent. Just look at the prices of weed, in general, I know theres exceptions but in order of quality is usually like this:
Outdoors
Greenhouse
Indoors
