Water Pumps! Trasnfering From Reservoir To Plants

Hi All,

Would like to know what an effective way of transferring water/nutes from a 96Gal Toter bin to plants.'

I would like to have a sump pump on the bottom of the rez, a 50FT 3/4 hose attached to wand without the need to unplug the pump in between watering's.

I was thinking originally to use this 1/2 HP sump pump

But when I called the manufacture they said dead heading the pump would cause the seals to go bad from the pressure.

Would this pump work any different?

This is one of the pumps that we use to water nutes out off 100 gallon rez

Use 1 inch slip-slip bulk head fitting to hook pump to your rez using 1inch pvc ,set rez up on some cement blocks put bulk head in bottom of your tank and use shims to get slight angle to the bulk head.

<--- is a HUGE fan of Iwaki, and those are the pumps most commonly used in the public aquaria I have experience with.

The pumps others have posted I would not use personally.

Try this out for size. On demand pump is what your looking for. I hook this strait into a 330 gallon IBC tote that I mix my nutes in. Then a hose coming strait off the pump. The hose runs at 65psi and is on demand, meaning it will turn on and off when you pull the water handle. No delay. No chattering.

I also have this powering my main irrigation system. I am on the top of a hill, and don't need that much power. However this pump supplies enough water for all my needs, with enough psi to properly clean stuff.

Careful with the pump you posted in the first post. That sub pump will not turn off. So if you hook a hose up to it, it will blow up the motor very quickly with resistance. It is designed to pump, and pump only. That is why you should be looking for an "on demand" pump. That way you can turn on and off the water without having to turn on and off the pump.

Looks like a good pump, I have been using the Iwaki pumps for years never had any problems, But with that said the On Demand pump you posted above does look nice I like the idea of it shutting down the motor once it hits set pressure, Can you adjust Turn up or down the pressure cut off ?

Yes, all that is adjustable. However, I just keep it at the full psi which is around 65 psi in my system. A great way to choke down the PSI is a PVC flow rate fitting.
