Mine was a 10 bucket waterfarm, borrowed from a friend. I had all the issues, and ultimately I got tired of fighting with them. The worst was finding a piece of hydroton stuck in one of the waterlines- no wonder I wasn't getting any fuckin' nutes to the right places, right?!
Anyway, if you're thinking waterfarm instead of dwc due to expense, don't think the dwc route has to be expensive. I built my own 24 site system, airpump and all, for less than $250. The only spendy part was the chiller... The plusses of going this route are many; moving the water over the roots is good for them. cool water transfers more O2. PPMs can be lower. Many people report not having to change their nute water very often, like once a month or less. pH, ppm, temp are all more stable. That's why I went with it over waterfarm...
