Cap, I believe I haven't seen Texas Kid's input on this thread in... years. I believe he's blissfully unaware of the discussion he's sparked here, so I mentioned it in his 'battlefield earth' thread. Like you, I hope to see his perspective here soon.

what do you guys think of the vert "one bounce and out" reflectors?

100 watts/ft2 overhead in 1ks
1/3 that, approximately, positioned lower in vert 6s.
Tall enough plants to use all that light.

WTF?!?!? HOw much is it to buy?
They range from $200 on up to about $800. I looked them up on amazon the other day. The one I mentioned, with data logging, was about $350 if memory serves.

I believe certain nutrient delivery systems impart potential for an extra .1-.25 gpw, all else equal.
Heath.

Any of them involving low root mass.
Bucket systems.
Anything where we follow Krusty's advice and flow nute solution past root tips.

This is what led me to choose RDWC as my hydro system of choice. This, and ease of operation, construction, low price....

150 watt 14k phoenix hexarc blue(de) gets 33,400 lumens.
Over 220 lumens/watt.
Some of these on the sides of the canopy, lower, the height of the vert 6s would be good maybe.

Vert bare lamp, surround it with plants, and surround the plants with reflective surfaces.
Already doing that.

I'm serious, for micromoles @sqft those hoods can beat the horizontal overheads - on paper. Haven't seen one in action myself. There's at least one open-style version too.

It stands to reason that a vert lamp with that reflector could outperform a horizontal lamp in a regular reflector.
Wasn't someone somewhere advocating 4 250w lamps instead of 1ks?
Get them all close or something?

I was mainly thinking of the pale reflective women.
With the dimples.
Have to stock up on sunblock to keep their reflectivity above 90%.

I dunno, anything below 600 seems pretty impractical to me, all those ballasts/cords? Doesn't seem worth it when you could have fewer lamps and deeper penetration.

Would those be normal vert lamps or spinning around in a gyroscope? (i see you picked the corn out)

I was joking, some dude was advocating this I think.
I was thinking that 14 70w HPSs would be even better than a 1k.
