For real hahaha. Things I always look for in mid-late flower: naners and bud rot. Seeds wont poke out of the bud until theyre fully mature so if you missed the naners youre screwed. Sometimes its just a few, but if its a lot you wont catch them all either but it helps. Lazy way of destroying polen is using water and hydrogen peroxide but its never good to spray your buds you gotta make sure they have a fan ponting at them for a few days and even with that who knows if you will get a moldy one...
And for bud rot, the bigges giveaway is the mold that grows on top of it, if you catch it soon maybe you cant cut off the rotten part and not have to discard the entire bud. Sneaky too since it starts from the inside of the bud many times.
I should have filmed it but after cutting the bud off, I inspected it closer and figured it out the more I took that bud apart. It was just the top half. Was able to save the lower half. I'm installing two more fans in there for the next grow, two at the top and one at the bottom. Maybe keep the humidity lower than 60% .. maybe, 80-83 degrees and 60% gives you that 1.5 VPD that's supposed to be perfect for flowering stage.. not sure anymore 😂 fuk VPD... Shits gonna be at 45% next grow 😂

VPDs are a good guideline but you dont need to follow them exactly, sometimes avoiding mold is more important than perfect VPD. Plus you can still get 1,5 kPa at 45% humidity and the temps needed are also nice for late flower:

Nice that it was only part of the bud. I had to throw the biggest one of my grow 2 grows ago I think? It was beatiful but it got very moldy on the side facing the wall and I couldnt tell until all the bud was rotten a few days before chopping. Happens, at least it was only one hehe but of course its always the biggest ones, or most of the times.

Funny how it happens when you least expect it. My last run of giant colas in this tent was the Super Silver Haze (from memory) and no problems, it was in the winter so I'm sure that played into it with the cooler temps. I had couple fans going on in there too at the same time. I'm hoping that is all I need just a gang of air flow. I see the big boys grow rooms on YouTube and they have huge air flow going on. What were you growing out when that happened to you?

Winter helps a ton, my best harvests are in winter and autumn because I dont have enough money to invest in climate control so I can only play with the airflow to increase or decrease temps and humidity. During summer they get toasted, but I try my best. I still get good buds but they foxtail and shit, thats why I plant a lot of Runtz during hot seasons, Runtz foxtails so easily that they will mature at the same time as the bud and gives big buds too and the buds will still look nice.
It has happened with several strains, but mostly strains with dense and big colas. The one in particular that I mention I think it was melonade runtz.

I wish I had a youtuber set up hahaha. Yes ideally you want enough airflow so that the indoors stays at the same temps as humidity as the lung room, trying to extract as much heat from the LEDs as possible.
For intraction I have an airflow of 305 m3/h (20 euros)
For extraction I have an airflow of 405 m3/h (40 euros)
Not nearly enough for when it gets hot.

You always want more extraction power than intraction power so you have negative pressure in the indoors. That way you know that all the air is being renovated constantly.

This is from my last harvest, it foxtailed and you can see the foxtails but it doesnt foxtail like other strains leaving you with deformed buds. The buds swell so much that you start to not see the foxtails and as you can see the foxtails are as mature as the bud. This doesnt happen with strains that dont handle well the heat, they will foxtail but also look like shit 🤣
This a no bank runtz seed. From the seeds I have that I get gifted when I buy something in grows. This strain performs even with mediocre genetics.

I think most strains are capable of giving you big buds if youre going organic and the pot is big enough but some more than others.
With synthetics they dont get all the goodies they get from organic like vitamins, aminoacids, hormones, etc... I always see that synthetic weed is way more skinny and not as big, but it also finishes faster.

That's a good tip about the runtz @Eledin my setup is similar to yours and all i have is a outside stand up oscillating fan to move the air. Right now outside it's dry and hot at 12noon. Indoors i've not put the central air on yet and just leaving windows open and curtains closed it's very comfortable for now. My tent is in a bedroom with 2 windows open and curtains closed and it's breezy. The tent door stays open now during lights on which i run 730am to 730pm for the 2 photos. If i close the tent door half way it gets up to 85f so i don't. I don't like to run my tent this late into early summer either but that's the way this run went. I'm hoping just another 35days with these ones i got. It's a real challange not getting swamp roots.

Oh yes, I have a clip fan to move air inside, its always good that they get breeze otherwise they wont get as sturdy. Seems like your lung room is well ventilated and thats sometimes even better than having good airflow, if you have good airflow but your lung room doesnt have ventilation eventually the lung room will be at the same temperature than the indoors and they will cook. I have a friend that steamed his because he didnt listen to me and kept the door of his lung room closed. There was mold everywhere, it was in summer too... literally steamed them hahaha.

Yes for us summer is the biggest enemy, but if you get a strain that can handle high heat you will get better results. I never stop the grows even if I know that my flowering time will be in summer, I just get different strains. Hot months always runtz or a runtz cross, then on winter and autumn usually I try new strains or go back to another that I missed.

Excellent point there .. time to replace that 4 inch (exhaust fan) set-up I have in there. Good call.

This last winter I tried dos-si-dos 33 from barney's farm. What a great strain, the taste is amazing I dont even know how to describe it but its fresh, like mild peppermint or something, never tasted anything similar so I cant compare thats the closest I can get.
I have some thin mintz from a spanish bank that I will plant when the heat is gone, looking at the flavor profile they must taste similar at least in that freshness.

Also here is how to make LAB very cheap and easy with things you have at home. You wont find lactobacillus in powdered products and its too expensive to buy in a bottle.

Now that I think about it, mykos only has mycorrizae, do you add bacteria later on or do you stay with only mykos all grow?
Just initially, the soil is supposed to have some in there already, but sitting in the garage, it's dried up to powder almost. And I've always had better results using the Mykos when seeding in party cups.

Like that dude ..the Viking! I've made LAB on this thread. Got lazy and bought Brandons version of it this summer 🤣

Nice! I should have guessed that you knew how to make LAB by now but Ive been growing for more than 10 years and to me is fairly new information. I used to buy a liquid called Alpha Boost that has it along with molasses and other goodies but its way too expensive for what it is. So you dont add bacillus besides the ones that might already be in the soil? If it gets that try before you use it theyre probably dormant and many died. I like to add bacillus because its also noticeable even if not as much as mycorrizae. Also since I use bacillus thuringiensis Im friends with the ocasional gnats that come to my room. They live for a few days and I never see them again, they cant reproduce in my soil.
I even save them when they get in my coffee, I like to see them fly like their lives depende on it when theyre caffeinated, its funny.
I live in a farming village close to a river so theyre always around, like many other insects that make it into my home. But even if they manage to get in the indoors, which most dont, nothing happens and I never have more than 1 or 2 at a time in my room, most of the times none.
Im more annoyed by the crane flies because they cant fly for shit and theyre always crashing against me or flying dangerously close hahaha luckily my cat eats them so they dont last for long either.
