Hey everyone, second time grower here. Last year I had one plant that gave me an oz, this year I’m back with 8 looking for more!

Advice needed, I am 8 weeks in on White widow auto flower, and I’m wondering why my plants are not denser. Outdoor grow with 70* consistently.

Feeding Bonnie nutrients every other day, cal mag spray every night.

What kind of soil? Where do you get your water? If I had to take a blind stab at it, it would be, not enough light for the first month and a half. Poorly draining soil and bad watering practices. But not sure about soil. Not enough dry back, so roots not getting enough oxygen. Not up taking any nutrients. Just kind of languishing there. Are the other six doing the same thing? Just two cents!

I agree with you on the possibility of pests. I but I think his problems start underground. And being autos, he’s rapidly running out of time. Looks like they might be starting to flower already. There shouldn’t be any problem posting links to possible solutions.

Definitely spider mites which I’ve been treating with Neem oil. Any tips to get the most out of my grow with the time left? I feel like I’ll be lucky to harvest an ounce or two from these sadly

Organic soil with nothing added, I’ve been using Bonnie and Clyde nutrients but I did not start until 5 weeks unfortunately.

What’s the key to dense and large yields?

Is it too late to add perlite?

Yep. You need to add that before your transplant into the soil. Or before you plant your seed into the pot. You probably don’t have a moisture meter. You could try going to the edge of the pot and digging down five or 6 inches with your finger and see if it’s still wet down there. and I would want them out in full sun. With the pots elevated on something to allow airflow underneath. On taking a second look, looks like you have only been watering around the plant instead of the whole pot. So the finger thing might not tell you much either. Just taking a guess here. And if you are into autos, or regs for that matter, it’s not too late to start some more.

I do have a moisture and ph meter. I’m going to work some perlite in.

I’m going to start 3 new seeds, can you give me some advice or point to a guide on the best way for outdoor growing in a greenhouse? As far as soil/perlite, and nutrients.

Sorry, MMA. I would just start with the ocean forest. Maybe 25% perlite. I wouldn’t grow in a greenhouse, unless I absolutely had to from what I have seen. I like using 9 ounce solo cups with a lot of holes drilled in them till they get two or three nodes. Then up pot to whatever cloth pot you will be growing in. I use re-amended soil. So not much in the way of nutes, but probably Gaia green or roots organic Terp Tea. I use the horticultural perlite from the landscaping store because you can get 4 ft.³ of it for about 20 bucks and I need a lot of it. The course perlite will work also. The number 4 stuff but it is more expensive. If you live where it’s humid, maybe use more perlite. Dry, maybe use less. Why do you have to grow in a greenhouse? And did you find out anything with the moisture meter on the other plants?

I went with the greenhouse setup because last years grow in planters boxes the dogs, squirrels, and pests were an issue. I figured it would help with pests but the organic soil I used this round brought tons of spider mites.

Sometimes greenhouses are more like growing indoors. You run into heat, humidity, and air flow issues. Even light issues. I seen a few where the plant grew, stretched and spindly, because the light gets diffused. like all growing, you just have to deal with the problems if and when they arise! I go with the welded wire fence, good size cloth pots , and as much direct sunlight as possible. Everyone’s environment is different. But they need a good, regular, wet dry cycle. So you want a medium with a fair amount of breathability. Especially when they are young. Search greenhouse growing. Maybe you can pick up some tips there.

I hear you! What’s the best way for proper watering schedules? I’ve noticed them drying out quicker because this soils pretty dense. Going to try putting some perlite in but the next round will be better.

I’m going to start another round of auto flowers. What’s your take on when to start nutrients and how often? I’ve got the Bonnie & Clyde liquid nutrients, as well as cal-mag. I worry about under watering or overwatering

Watering with a good dry back is key along with plenty of light. maybe some auto growers will see this and chime in. One thing is certain, once the seed pops, the doomsday clock starts ticking! I’m going to clog your thread with an example. The small ones are about 2 1/2 weeks old and ready to go into the larger pots. The larger ones look like the small ones and we’re up potted a month ago and are ready to be up potted again. Haven’t fed any of these things anything! Just watered them correctly and give them plenty of light! Not world beaters, but not racing the clock either. Learn to read your plants. It takes a few grows.

Wow they look gorgeous! I’ve never had a single plant with leaves as healthy and big as the one on right. Is it seed quality to have them growing that quick?

They are both the same strain. Don Carlos. Different pheno’s I guess. Feminized. Photos. I just wanted to show you that watering is more important than feeding in the beginning if you start with decent soil. And that if you are growing photos, up potting is your friend. Fear not the transplant! It’s the easiest thing in the world and one of the best ways to deal with soil problems. Hang in there, brother! if that plan of yours was a photo instead of an auto, you could’ve transplanted it into some decent soil and had a nice plant at the end. Come September or October.

And if you start autos now, they probably aren’t going to finish till mid or late September anyway. If everything goes as planned! Which in my experience with my grows never happens! L O L!
