Thanks so much guys! It's looking good. I'm starting to get excited now! I can't wait to get some good meds in the jars. This mexi-garbage going around town is making me cough my lungs out and I can't find any more of the indoor kush that was going around last month! :arghh: That shit was going for $25/gram (which was pissin' me off anyway)! So I'm pretty patient as a rule, but I really will be glad when this first run is ready!

Well...my trip to the grow store may have wound up being VERY expensive! While I was there I got to see one of the new induction lights in action! They had it set up beside a 1000 HPS for comparison. This was a 400 watt Induction lamp and it was absolutely rockin' a 5'x5' tent! Killer growth under it, and I put my hand under it and felt no heat at all! I even touched the bulb and it was not uncomfortable to the touch. I could have left my hand there. This thing is comparable to the 1000 watt HPS, and it runs cooler than my 4 bulb T-5 unit! Absoluely amazing! The only drawback is the cost! The lamp is around $700.

I think I'm going to have to give it a try now that I've seen it in action though! The warranty on the fixture AND bulb is 10 years! When you think of the cost of HPS bulbs for 10 years...the $700 doesn't sound so bad. I'm not so much interested for that reason though. If I can get the equivalent of a 1000 watter in the 4'x3' tent with NO HEAT and drawing less power than my T-5's are right now...it's a no-brainer for me! Stay tuned folks...the Maxy Pad just might be getting an upgrade VERY soon!!!

Anybody have any experience, thoughts or opinions on Induction lights? Thanks!

Best,

Max :wacky:

P.S. Hey Gamrstwin...thanks for being a "regular" at the pad, bro! Yeah...I'm in soil. Right now I'm using FF Ocean Forrest with a couple add-ins.

This is a cross post but since your speaking of heat I thought I'd share it here.

Here's a little day 16 update on my 5 x 5 tent. After the OG hermied I'm now down to the 2 GSC, 1 Blueberry Dream and 1 DreamQueen. But the upside is I'll spread the pots out a bit more. With some super cropping I'm keeping the canopy pretty even and as you can see I'm getting good coverage with the single lamp with the outside edges keeping up and no bending towards the light. So far everything is healthy and perky. Outside temps have been running in the 85-95 ranges but I'm keeping good air flow in the garage with one of those roof mount exhaust fans and the 5000 btu AC in the tent is keeping temps at 75-78 with no problems. Most of the time it's not even running.

Thanks bro! I really appreciate your kind words and great karma! Does he have a journal here or somehwere? I'd love to see some flowering results! No, the light I looked at was the "Sunlight Series" Induction light. Here's the induction lights I was able to find:

Inda-grow ( http://www.inda-gro.com/ )
i-grow ( http://www.igrowlights.com/ )
New Age Induction ( http://www.newagelights.com/index.html )
Sunlight Series (

)

There may be others, but these are all I know about. From what I've seen and read, I'm liking the Inda-grow better than the others for a number of reasons. And WTF is up with the i-grow light? Why are they TWICE the cost of all the other manufacturers? I can't find any major difference that would justify such a wide price gaqp...but maybe I'm missing something. But at this point, the folks at Inda-grow seem to have it together better, and it looks to me like they are offering a superior product. I'm still in the midst of performing my due dilligence though, so this opinion is subject to change! And again...I'm open to any and all opinions!

Thanks again, bro!

Hey Chaz...THANKS SO MUCH! Super video, and I really appreciate you posting it! Is that YOUR grow? It looks great, man! That light rocks! That's the exact set-up I'm leaning toward right now...the 420 plus the poontoon. Since you're running an Inda-grow, do you mind if I pick your brain a bit? If it's cool, I'd like to shoot you a PM with a couple of questions. For now tho...do you feel the pontoon was worth the extra money? I mean...it practically doubles the cost of the rig! If it does all it's supposed to though, I'd be HAPPY to fork over the cash! Thanks for your post, time and information!

Best,

Max :wacky:

Oh yeah...on the i-grow light...I forgot to mention that it's twice the price, AND you only get half the warranty! It's only warrantied for 5 years instead of Inda-grow's (and the other manufacturers) 10 year warranty! Does anybody know how they justify this? I keep thinking there must be SOME huge difference and I'm just not seeing it! (For the I-grow company's sake...I hope so)!

:wtf: UPDATE - FLOWERING - DAY 22 :blackeye:

Well...A spot of bad news, I'm afraid. When I was watering last night, I spotted balls on one of my "gals"! Not only that, but he had already busted a nut at least twice. I found two open (and empty) male pods! The SHOCKING thing to me was that it was one of the Speedberry's that hermied! I NEVER expected that! I was watching the Animal Cookies like a hawk, fully expecting them to herm out before the end, and I guess I had been a bit slack on really checking out the other strains as well! (Won't make THAT mistake again)! My other Speedberry's are doing fine though, with no signs of herming. I don't think it's any knock on the strain. I also am pretty confident it was nothing stress-related either. Hell...it happens! I just hope it didn't knock up the whole crop!

I told MGG about it and he said this was the only reported hermie out of all the folks who have grown it out. I really don't think it's a big deal, and I would happily run the strain again. I will be keeping a CLOSE eye :cyclops: on everything from now on though! Here's a few pics of the herm...

I noticed the pistils of one bud (only) on one plant turning brown, which is what got me looking closer to begin with! This can happen when the pistils get hit with pollen. Hopefully nothing much got pollinated, but only time will tell!

I had another Animal cookies plant that I had culled out earlier, but hadn't destroyed that I was able to slide into the open spot in the tent. (Yeah...the hermie is long gone)! It's a bit behind because it's only gotten ambient room light for the last week or two, but hopefully it will catch up soon. Here's a shot of Max's little Cookie patch...

And the remaining Speedberry's and the Blueberry Gum are still looking good!

I'd really appreciate some opinions here...I'm at day 25 in the above pics and flower production seems a bit slower to me than I would like to see. :meh: Keep in mind, my experience has always been running HPS for flower. (Last set-up was 2 1000 watters). Now, I'm just flowering with the single VHO T-5 (4-bulb) so it makes sense that it would take longer. Looking at the pics, do you feel it's a bit slow, or does this look about right for day 25?

Also...I got my 2'x2' tent set-up. I have a larger tent that is not set-up yet, which will become the bloom tent. The tent above will become the veg tent, and the 2'x2' will be a drying-only tent. (I don't have a closet or anywhere else to dry. :( It's going to have to be done in my little grow room, so I thought the tent was a good solution to control temps, ventillation, RH and light levels). My plan is to hang the plants, but I've also got a 2' diameter dry net I can hang in there. In the meantime...I'm using it as a veg tent with the 2'x8 bulb T-5!

Don Peppy was kind enough to gift me some wonderful gear! He sent me a fem Blueberry (Dutch Passion Original BB), a fem Grape God (Next Generation) and a Red Dragon (unsure of breeder). THANKS SO MUCH for your kindness, bro! When I was dreaming of getting set back up, BB and a purple strain were what I was imagining! I couldn't be more excited! THANKS BRO!!! I put the BB and Grape God in Happy Frog last night! I also have my Blueberry Gum cuts that are rooting. I started to plant the Fruitylicious DP also gifted me earlier along with a Dina-Fem White Widow gifted by MGG (Yes folks...I DO buy my own beans every now and then...lol. I just have some VERY generous, wonderful friends) but I think I'll wait a week or two and stagger them going in. That was always my original plan, but I just couldn't bring myself to thinning out those beautiful plants any further!

That's about it for now...except that I'm getting pretty close to just pulling the trigger on the Inda-grow induction light! I'm hoping to get more (and more detailed) info on the various manufacturers so I can choose which light...but I'm definitely sold on the technology! I hope ya'll have a great day!

Best,

Max :wacky:

:D UPDATE - FLOWERING - WEEK 5 :D

Thanks so much for dropping in everybody, and for your kind words!

Today is exactly 5 weeks to the day since they were flipped! I'm still thinking the buds are on the small side for 5 weeks. I'd appreciate other's opinions on this too! I'm seeing a P deficiency, and don't know if the small buds are due to this, or if it's the T-5. The UNO is a bright-ass light, and seemed to me like it was going to be plenty of light for the space. I'm going to bump up the P on the next feed and hopefully they'll begin putting on more size/weight.

There's a few new happenings in the veg tent too, although nothing pic worthy yet. I'll probably post up a shot or two mid-week. The Blueberry gal with stem-rot didn't make it, but the Grape God is doing good. I also was gifted some amazing gear from a very top-notch private breeder called "ROC". He has sent me some of his Orange OGK, and Orange x Pineapple cross, and his Grape Romulan (made with the old-school Federation Romulan he got from Marc Emery back in the day! These should prove to be amazing! He's also going to be sending me some of the Blue-family crossed he's been working on, so that's certainly something to look forward too! So...right now in the veg tent we've got Orange OGK, Orange x Pineapple, Grape Romulan, Grape God and Blueberry Gum vegging.

My veg area wasn't set up at the time, so I didn't get any cuts of what's flowering right now. If any of them turn out to be promising, I'll re-veg and take cuts from that to flower. Here's a few shots of what's going on in the Maxy Pad. Again...I'd be very thankful to hear your various opinions on the size of these buds at 5 weeks. If I just don't have enough light, it's going to make pulling the trigger on that Inda-grow just that much easier! ;) Thanks to all and PEACE!

Here's a few shots of the P deficiency raring it's ugly head...

Again...thanks for dropping in, and don't be shy about expressing your thoughts on the buds. I'm trying to make a decision on the Inda-grow light this week. I'm also thinking seriously of getting the pontoon too, so if anyone has any opinions on these rigs, I'd love to hear them.

Best,

Max :wacky:

i think they are looking great and even bigger buds than mine. hows your crystal production? mine are smaller buds but vary vary crystaly. i wouldnt worry too too much with the lighting, maybe trimming up some of the bigger leaves will allow you better light penetration. i was thinkin on adding a ufo or 2 on the sides of my box to allow for lower lighting. heres a pic of mine at week 5
