just saying i wouldn’t water that way,..Noted. There's plenty in there, even if it doesn't look like it. There are also rice hulls, coir, earthworm castings and compost. So, it's a nice loam texture. I reuse soil and compost it between uses. I have maybe a 4-grow rotation. I'll think about adding more perlite the next time I mix, though.
Some of the white powder on the top is baking soda. I recently read that it kills fungus gnat larvae. They eat it and die. Spread it loosely on the top and spray it with water, but only enough to penetrate about the top half-inch of soil. Repeat once a week for three weeks. It works! After seeing some gnats, I applied it twice. Now, they're gone. I haven't seen any harm to the plants. I'd be careful not to use too much of it, though.
I just pulled the lid off mine, got a feeling that's what's been giving me failed seeds/seedlings.. Been a while since I started from seed and its been a rough go..just saying i wouldn’t water that way,..
anyhoo these are waste of time for too many reasons,..View attachment 2112404
but i’ve been loving my grow box for clones and seedlings for many reasons,..View attachment 2112405
i only needed to take the bottom half to a laser cutting store for them to make a perforated plastic removable floor with supports added, they did a perfect job,..View attachment 2112406
I know. You're not alone. That's why I hadn't mentioned it. I wouldn't even suggest it to non-organic growers. I guess I think of it as moisture management, rather than watering, with the goal of optimizing the rhizosphere and mycorrhizae. I'm mostly curious to see if it works. I'll let you know if it doesn't. If it does, I'll patent it.just saying i wouldn’t water that way,..

It's not like watering any other way avoids gnats. I'll be happy if I don't see any more of them during this grow.you know you probably gave yourself the gnats with watering like that,..
No worries.ok cool, didn’t want you to get offended haha
Why are clone domes a waste???just saying i wouldn’t water that way,..

too small and flimsy, yes they work but i’m done with them, i kept one a friend took the rest,.. my grow box converted for cloning and seedlings is much bigger and sturdy and has a perforated floor for airflow,..Why are clone domes a waste???
I've had 99% success rate with clone domes?
Maybe the unit was defective??? Granted I don't have central a/c... I have found my portable ac/dehumidifier to be a savior and good investment for myself... even using now just as a fan for air movementI bought a portable ac unit trying to get my grow room temps down. I am in Arizona sw already had a hvac but temps get pretty high in the tent. So I figured it would help out. Big fail. It definitely brought the temps down but here’s where it got weird. My house hvac was switching on way too often. Almost like the unit thermostat was being overridden. The operating temperature on the house said it was the same. However it was freezing. My tile was super cold. Not to mention the high pitched sound that would give you nightmares. I ended up returning it. I probably should’ve kept it if I ever have ac problems but that $400 is kind of needed with summer electric bills.
I would love to have that setup. Why can't you live down the street from me?Mine was probably a vivosun all automated setup. Seems the wifi controlled brain thing liked my neighbors wifi better then mine. Was randomly turning off lights, fans ect...Unplugged that and hooked up an old mechanical timer. Then realized my young plants were hating those built in fans blowing down on top of them. Put duct tape over the fans to finish out that run. Whole setup went back in the box collecting dust..
Lol, yeah it's a shame. For some reason my wifi always picks up on my neighbors before mine, kinda like that old poltergeist movie where the neighbors had the same signal remote. Made the whole tent go wacky from day one. The lights with built in fans would be a great idea if they were adjustable but their not. If the light is on, the fan is going full throttle and plants were not happy. Had to put tape over the fans.. Beyond that, the equipment seems of decent qualityI would love to have that setup. Been running 2 hurricane fans and 1 can fan for 17 years... still works like new and have yet to clean themYeah man that sucks. It’s a bitch but taking inline fans, circulating fans apart is something I try to do at least 1 time a year. Lots of alcohol staying in cracks and crevices to get some of that crap out of the pesky spots, and making sure the stater and coil are clean….
Oh those you never clean.Been running 2 hurricane fans and 1 can fan for 17 years... still works like new and have yet to clean them![]()
Oh it worked quite well. It caused my central air to run way too often and it was much cooler than the thermostat said.Maybe the unit was defective??? Granted I don't have central a/c...
