that keeps some water weight I bet. Dry is dry. It’s not “close enough”.

I bet if you dried and jar cured a couple weeks to be sure like me your weights would go down. Maybe substantially.

I dont even get the scale out till the weed has been into curing a few weeks sometimes I dont weigh until its cured which is several weeks after trim (I trim dry then into curing). whats the point.

My dick aint gonna get any bigger because I got a bigger haul... Wasssup Holmes? lol

you mean the jar it’s in is 62% rh?

That’s not dry. And it’s not a way of telling. Dry weight has always been 25% of wet weight. Even in the oldest grow books they say this.

Simple math. Wet weight was 30 lbs +-
Dry weight was actually 3260 grams at a much more accurate 62%.

13,620 - 75% = 3405 gm.

62% is a more accurate measure than your 75 25%

where are you getting the 62% was what I am asking?

I weighed my harvest for a year wet and dry. All different plants always weigh between 20 and 25% of wet weight when truly dry.

I said his would. Not yours cause I don’t know. But we had that discussion on his thread before when he showed his drying process.

Im not a distributor by any means but from a recreational users point of view.. Dry/smokeable weight is the only weight that is important. Every other wetter weight measurement is a mirage. The only time anyone should be weighing their flower is after its reached a point where you could successfully smoke it or store it without it molding. That means humidty, proper leaf trim etc.

Tbh I see such bad ettiquette within the community where growers seem to exagerate their grows as a means make their dick seem bigger in the community cock measuring competions. How do we expect to get better as a community when we cant even agree on the right time to weight the fruits of your labor for analysis.

Fact of the matter is, if you couldnt get a reputable dealer to pay for your produce because its to wet or wasnt cured right, then your weight doesnt matter and nobody cares. Its like talking about the weight of corn but all the corn is rotten on the cob. Nobody cares. All that matters is what your weight is at after it is fully cured... the weight once the process is complete... the "final cut".

Actually quite the opposite. mmg was saying dry is a 70 to 75 % shrink, even in the good old days. Im saying mine was ready for cure at 62% air moisture. Basically almost exactly as his high of 75% .

I wet weighed this particular run just to see what my shrink was. Still have half sitting in vaults at 62%. Fairly dense nugs so it was exactly what @MIMedGrower said it should have been only i use a meter.

Edit just popped a lid

how does metering the air around the buds prove anything about the buds?

I'm in the same boat. I've been a member here since 16?, but doing this for more years than I care to admit.
They're working out the laws where I am, and hopefully I won't need investors/partners, but the #'s I've heard to get a license haven't been friendly, even for the well founded.
I quit just when all the LED hype took hold, and CMH where being brought up.
In my life I never weighed a harvest until it was dry.
Under a 1K HPS, if I didn't pull an ave of a GPW, that strain was history, unless the demand was extremely high.
My last few grows were breeding projects under a 600 HPS. I was getting very nice #'s. I'm itching to get going

I don't trim until its dry. So its hard to say wet vs dry. this was 320g with stems and leaves and just shy of 2oz trimmed and dried,

How do you know that removing 80 % of the cut weight will give you what your looking for? Shiet, maybe you should have taken it down a day sooner at 75%, your guessing you don't know.

I know for a fact what my shrink was on this run at 62% air humidity because i weighed it and i also know bud at 50% air humidity is too dry imo. Its definitely is too dry to press. That there is the only good use for boveda. Again my opinion.

Sticking a bale prope into a round bale is a guesstimate as well also measuring the air, but it works.

Using those little meters is the best ive found and now im woundering how much shrink there is from 62% to 50%. Stay tuned.

When i got back into this i would weigh a couple of the bigger colas and measure the shrink to get a guesstimate. Now trim bowl, nets, vaults.

I told you. I weighed my harvests wet then dry for years to see the average. And it matched what I read in Ed rosenthal and Jorge Cervantes grow books.

The humidity meters are not measuring the moisture inside the bud at all. In a jar I guess they measure the environment and you can see the humidity rise as the moisture is slowly released from the buds. In an open basket of weed. A mixture of the rooms atmosphere and vapor from the buds. Leaving a lot of variables. Weight leaves none. Takes different times for different density buds to dry. Takes out the variables.

To defoliate or not to defoliate?

Growing up I've always heard that you should prune away the big fan leaves to maximize light to areas & increase airflow. This was obviously 20 plus yrs ago & I know things have changed so after reading about it online I'm left even more confused. My plants are at day 40 of flowering & are chock...
www.thcfarmer.com

Drying your buds to 62% air humidity is the easiest way I've found to get a guesstimate of when I've removed approximately 75 to 80 % of the moisture. Its approximately the same thing! Maybe if you remove 80% of the moisture of the original weight your bud is going to be too dry and you should have stopped at 75% or 76% by weight. And just maybe 62% air humidity is just perfect. Boveda and boost think 62 is a good place to be.

And please you keep saying air humidity isn't the same as bud moisture. Im well aware of that and i used an example of a hay moisture tester that doesn't measure the moisture of the hay but the area around it.

1.8 to 2.0 at stable cure of 62% jar humidity. And thats also dependent on what I'm growing and how much time I'm putting into it.

Started seeing higher results with 301b diods. Denser nugs on lower levels i would guess. I don't pay the much attention to it now. If I have huge dense white coated buds, its a good grow.
