hey guys I am curious if anyone has found a good method to extract at least something from trim produced by a trimming machine? I know it's pretty much worthless as far as bho goes and I doubt there really is a good method to produce something smokable with machine trimmings. Has anyone tried either an alcohol extraction or bubble to make edibles with? Any thoughts or ideas are appreciated! I just hate throwing it away.

You can make extract out of it if you freeze everything first.

I spin mine, and make kief. Then kief into rosin. Works great for me. Kief produces a terp-less product compared to flowers, but strong and dabbable.

You can always give it to an extractor. Check out my IG.

I use a t4 trim machine and a 19" spin pro knock off. I've used trim for bho, bubble, and solventless rosin.

My rosin comes out more amber, but not black.

I do. I use the trimminator.

I personally don't notice the difference in rosin from machine trimmed or hand trimmed. I don't run the material much though, just a 5 minute hair cut then hand touch up.

I do alcohol extracts quite often.

How about going bubble Hash then press the Hash to Rosin then alcohol extract the cannabinoids left behind?

Bubble hash requires a lengthy dry time. Dry ice that shit then run it. No waiting for weeks for the bubble to dry.

Nope, I press kief at 150. Not too hot at all. Why in the world would you even say that?

That is tge route i will be taking when i have my first grow in 3-4 months.

Already done several alcohol exteaxtions. 99% alcohol works well and it extracts 2-3% more than butane.

Control the temp or you will ruin tge flavor. I purge at 120-130 degrees Fahrenheit.

Is there any specific type of alcohol to look for? My lady is a hair stylist and can get 99% from the hair supply store. I always did bho in the past but now that I'm using a trim machine I need to try a new method. So I appreciate the advice!

So the machine trims wet?

When I used to trim wet I'd lay out all the trim on a tarp in a room with a dehuey and stir it/ flip it a couple times a day till dry then freeze it.

Writing that down it occurs to me how unsanitary it sounds.

But I guess the take home is that the trim will work fine if dried.

Yes it trims wet but that's not what has anything to do with the fact the trim is almost unusable. The machine grinds the trim up so much u basically have a chlorophyll mulch on your hands.

Yup so I'm hoping going through a multi step process with an alcohol wash at the end might give me a decent finished product. One way to find out i just hate wasting trim!

I use Swan 99% ISO I get on Amazon.

Any 99%ISO 1% water will work great.

Someone sooner or later is going to say isopropyl is bad and to use PGA (pure grain alcohol)

I have done extracts with 99% ISO and 95% Everclear.

There is NO COMPARISON between the two.

With Everclear my yield is only 12-14.5%

With 99% ISO my average yield us 17.2-24.5%

A few weeks ago i picked into 26 grams Northern Lights too Dry to smoke. I picked them up for a song.

Now Northern Lights is only 17% THC abd 3.5% CBD (one of my favorite strains for Crohns disease i call the family curse. Even with dry buds i extracted 4.4 grams of concentrate or 16.9%

Another positive side of using ISO instead of Everclear is the appearance of the hash oil.

ISO it is a honey/ amber color.
Everclear the Hash oil is brown or worse.

Extracts made with alcohol tends to be harsh to smoke because of the clorophyll fats and solids. So as soon as i strain the herb from alcohol i put the liquid back in the freezer to winterize for 6-12 hours then still in the freezer filter the liquid inside the freezer..

When properly winterized i woukd rather vape an alcohol extract than BHO. A few people have started winterizing BHO.

I evaporate off the alcohol by sitting the alcohol near a window with a fan blowing the fumes out a window.

When most alcohol is gone i put it on low heat like 120-130.

Too much heat will destroy the quality of the vape.

There is a thread here i think it is called ISO slab NO butane or similar. If memory serves i think i posted two or three of my extracts there.

Last 4yrs I've use a trim machine (19" apin pro knock off, and mow my t4) which produces ground up material.

This is my solventless rosin extract drop said trim, doing a dry ice extract to get the kief, then pressed. It's not overly dark, but more amber-ish. This is an 8.5g patty. It's rather thick, had I made it thinner, it would be a shade or two lighter.
