My question is why is the plants growing like bushes and not long and spread out. the nodes is growing not even a half a inch from each other. They look like bushes instead of tall plants. not sure if this is a strain issue or a light distance issue. They're not showing any signs except the shortness. Maybe is bc of their age. I LST them like 3 days ago from this post. but the bud sights are covered by the fan leaves.

Quick rundown about the plants:

Strains: 2 Bruce Banner 3 auto( both have been LST) and a Northern lights auto(the one thats not trained down(LST)
Sprout date: May 24th 2020 (about 3 weeks old)
Soil: FFOF
Water: tap water(set for 48 hours without top and not ph'd) watered until top soil is fairly soaking wet when soil is dry. pots are fairly heavy.
Humidity: between 70%/75%
Temp: 75-80F
Pots: 5 gallon fabric pots
Light distance: about 28-30inch from canopy
Tent: 3x3
Anything else let me know.

Appreciate any advice and knowledge in advance.

I harvest 2 northern light auto 2 months ago. One was Just like your plant here, thats common phenotype at NL. short, compact, bushy and she did very well. I got around 60 g from her.. Just keep caring for them, you Will get rewarded. By the way NL have one of the biggest yields automatic can deliver.
Good luck
