Soapy water first, then follow up with a 10% bleach solution. FYI- the only method that works for killing Hops Latent Viroid on surfaces is 10% bleach solution. This may not be a concern for you being a small grower, but prevention is far cheaper and easier than mitigation.

Thank you.... I'm slightly obsessive about things when i get into it. So any extra measures to be safe I'll def do.

I have a couple fans in my tent

I’ve seen some great ways to clean them easy.

Can not find them.

If anyone has suggestions, I’m all ears.

PS I hermed my last plants. Really want to do a deep clean

You have to disassemble the fan. Oil the shaft. Reassemble. Usually gets them going again if they stall out. The Ozone and peroxide cleaning procedure is about as sterilize as it gets. Won't kill prions or tardigrades. But anything else will die. But you must vent the fog somewhere safe. And it will smell like a swimming pool when you're done. Takes 30 minutes. Once it's aired out. It's ready to go.

Im starting to get confused now, this is not the only webpage it mentions this, and this is from the CDC. But I also found a link that says that Bacillus Subtillus spores are hydrogen peroxide resistant. Maybe the problem is not that it doesnt kill them but that it takes a while and the less concentrated it is the longer it takes

Microbicidal Activity.

Hydrogen peroxide is active against a wide range of microorganisms, including bacteria, yeasts, fungi, viruses, and spores 78, 654.
In an investigation of 3%, 10%, and 15% hydrogen peroxide for reducing spacecraft bacterial populations, a complete kill of 106 spores (i.e., Bacillus species) occurred with a 10% concentration and a 60-minute exposure time. A 3% concentration for 150 minutes killed 106 spores in six of seven exposure trials 658. A 10% hydrogen peroxide solution resulted in a 103 decrease in B. atrophaeus spores, and a ≥105 decrease when tested against 13 other pathogens in 30 minutes at 20°C 659, 660. A 3.0% hydrogen peroxide solution was ineffective against VRE after 3 and 10 minutes exposure times 661 and caused only a 2-log10 reduction in the number of Acanthamoeba cysts in approximately 2 hours 662. A 7% stabilized hydrogen peroxide proved to be sporicidal (6 hours of exposure), mycobactericidal (20 minutes), fungicidal (5 minutes) at full strength, virucidal (5 minutes) and bactericidal (3 minutes) at a 1:16 dilution when a quantitative carrier test was used 655.

firstly i use a wet/dry vacuum to clean up everywhere/everything..
i use a 99.9% isopropyl watered down mix in my pump sprayer and or a peroxide mix of around 10-15% strength and let sit..
than after a bit ill wash out with soapy water and dry..
all equipment gets taken apart and cleaned including the vacuum..
cleaning and organizing is something i do constantly, geezus the grow area is the most cleanest/organized room in the house, haha..

I mix about a cap of bleach in a gallon of water. Then use that solution to wipe down the entire inside of tent after removing all equipment and sweeping up all debris.

Then I disassemble each piece of equipment, wipe it with the same solution, and return to tent once clean.

I do this for everything and just very lightly wipe the diodes on my lights, once done I leave the fans running and exhausting for a few hours before using the tent again.

I didn't think of the diodes..... It's safe to wipe then down with the bleach water mixture or do you just wipe down with plain water?

Eliden,

Look at the concentrations of the H2O2 being recommended. You cant buy that at CVS. Also you should delve into the materials and methods. I’ll bet they immerse those spores in liquid H2O2.

I’m not arguing. But in my work I owned several clean rooms. Passages and also the clean rooms were final filling of pharmaceutical pediatric vaccines took place . Never was H2O2 used to disinfect. It’s not effective. Bleach and/ or spoke-klenz followed by a thorough wipe down of all surfaces with a solution of H2O2 to remove the residues.

In a grow tent wipe surfaces with a bleach solution. Allow for a good residence time while still wet. Don’t let it dry.

It works.

Yes youre right I guess Ill have to swap to bleach... ugh. Thanks for the insight, thankfully I never had any affected plant affect my next grow but might have been just luck, and cleaning.
EDIT: In Spain I can buy a 12% bottle for 10 euros, is not cheap but Ive been using regular 5%. It does dessinfect, but I guess it doesnt deal as well with the spores.

Eledin,

Bear in mind when we talk about disinfecting we are talking spore management. You will never ever be able to rid a tent if spores. It’s a matter of adopting practices that keeps a tent clean and free of clutter. Then once in while take the tent down and thoroughly disinfect. Do that based on calendar and harvest times. Don’t wait until your buds become gray and fuzzy. Too late.

All good.

Zill.

I remove all equipment. Sterilize the tent with peroxide, or sometimes bleach and water mix, (I wear a full face respirator when I do, as well as vent outside) all equipment gets blown off with a air gun outside then wiped down and let to dry, then I’m pretty much ready to restart
