Nashville, TN – The attorneys general of Oklahoma and Nebraska have filed a lawsuit against Colorado. The two states believe that marijuana legalization in Colorado has resulted in increased migration of pot into the two states. It is resulting into a public nuisance into Oklahoma and Nebraska leading to consumption of law enforcement resources.

The federal government cannot push the states to criminalize pot. The advocates of marijuana legalization believe that it is Oklahoma, Nebraska and other states that are against marijuana are creating a public nuisance.

As per the simple law of economics, demand drives supply. If there is a demand for something, the supply will naturally find its way. The U.S. government had always implemented several measures to ban marijuana and other drugs, but still the increased demand for the products ensures that they are available for consumption.

If the facts are analyzed, Oklahoma and Nebraska are the two states where the consumption of marijuana was high even before marijuana was legalized in Colorado and three other states. Also, irrespective of the regulations in Colorado and other states, the pot will be available in Nebraska and Oklahoma.

The lawmakers and states should not discuss legalization of marijuana as whether it is legalized or not, people are still using it. The states should debate on who should be the regulators for the marijuana trade? Do drug cartels should control pot trade or the authority should remain with regulated business owners? Moreover, where the proceeds from pot sales should go, to meet legal means or satiate illegal activities? Once, they answer the questions they will know where they are wrong.

Colorado has taken a sensible decision as it has opted for regulated marijuana trade system. It has taken illegal marijuana out of the region and established a more regulated system. There are no criminal organizations that operate the illegal market of marijuana.
