For hlg something like this would be perfect and on sale right now. But yeah there are options

$298 in the US would be equivalent to about 500w of hps

A 240w would be perfect for that.

My plan is to buy a smaller one first and do a side by side comparison to 1-150w hps. If I like it and I can match the yield with less electric and heat- then I can upgrade. Maybe I can get another couple months of growing in. The extreme temps limit me now to Sep 1 -April 30 give or take.

Here what i went with for my 4x2 💁
3500k for 209
3000k for 219
240watt LED amazon link
Yup that works. I can't speak to the quality or life though. The link I sent are Samsung manufactured boards. Those aren't but that's not to say they are not as good. I just don't know as I have heard some reports of some of the Chinese boards not using diodes as advertised and mixing bins. But thats not to say that's the case. Rumors as far as my knowledge goes

Yup should be good. The only thing is the difference in IR. If you have a temp gun you will likely see slightly cooler leaf temps with led even though it has some IR added to the fixture I linked you

I was told my board used SK bin, which is middle bin... For 3000k its SJ,SK,SL in order of quality. I mean not sure how i could verify their claim lol but yea. 💁 its only about 2lm difference between bins anyway, not really a huge deal imo

Yeah and not alot of difference especially if lower wattage. I would have no issue buying that light.

The genuine Samsung are only top bin but like I say it's very little difference

Yeah my thread about viparspectra going to samsung/meanwell setups soon somebody shared a wonderful data sheet for the samsung diodes showing the bins and rated lm/w for each etc. They all hover mostly around 36-40lm/w

Wow to many options in LED I really haven’t had much to do with them , I watched my sister go through the specks for a few weeks trying to decide on what lights would the same job as the MH and HPS , I don’t think she ever did change after all the different speck sheet she had

Myself I only run MH and HPS I have for 20 odd years , I’d like to know what is the advantage of LED lights I can understand the heat signature is one ?

Power consumption and heat. Easier to run in smaller or height limited spaces because of this. No changing bulbs. Can have more even coverage depending on fixture. Various spectrums.

But LED is not LED and they are not created equal.

The reason I'm considering switching is to lower the temps. I have a 2 x 4 exhausted outside. I use two 150w hps. Works great in the winter, but I can't do anything in the summer. It's already too hot here.

240W is perfect for a 2x4 my friend. PERFECT

I have a 240W lm301b arriving Saturday for the flowering tent. In my 2x4 veg tent a 150W Mars hydrp ts1000 is killing it so far!

Cheers!

My 240w comes today! Same for me tho the viparspectra i already have does pretty well too. Cant wait aha

Too bad that Mars ts 1000 cant't really produce the 12 oz in a 2 x2 as Mars Hydro falsely claims.
Should be able to pull 10oz with it. But depends on strain, veg time etc.

Just curious what it did for ya.

Hell im hoping for 4-5oz from my viparspectra but no clue.. Theyre still chunkin out hah
Honestly im not sure how to even tell what kind of yield to expect... 150w in 3x2.

With a high yielder and scrog to make the most of it. Most 2x2 are fairly short so that would be a must I think.
I'm more concerned with quality than quantity. As long as the light doesn't produce less than a 150 hps and uses less electric and heat I'd be happy. That is assuming the potency is the same.
