Hi guys..uncertain on what size fans i should use in the grow room.my first
concern is heat from gavita 6/750 to canopy as its only 7ft and wont b using
an ac..ive been looking at 400mm 3speed oscilating fans that have a 50 watt
rating, would this b sufficient or too much ,been looking at small 20w 180mm
clip on fan to stimulate leaf and stem movement etc.
Am i on the right track, will i need 2 clip fans.cant get over the gear ive had to get..

Might have to pay the bank a visit :shockedninja: haha..

id go 1 oscilating fan and up grade my exhaust to a 8in fan,i also run no ac or heat, running 400 cfm intake and exhaust,if anything thats what i need to do,even led lighting keeps this damn tent hot, forced air movement is only thing that has saved me last 3 runs, been a challenge too, stay right about 85 in the tent

Do you have an inline fan for exhaust? I also run a gavita 6/750 in a 5x5x6.5 tent. My exhaust is 395 cfm. But I also ran a duct from my Central air for my intake. I have 2 small oscillating fans in my tent and one nice sized stationary fan blowing directly on them. Before I hooked up my a/c my temps would get up around 88 and I noticed no negative effects. Do you plan to do LST on your plants? Or topping them?

Yeah i have an 710cfm extraction fan and 315cfm inline if i remember
correctly havnt set them up in there as yet..reason for such a big exhaust
is the phresh fan is a little noisy so im going to run fan speed at around 40%..
I will have the gavita controller to help if gets hot by dimming till its under
control.what ive read in my short time learning is the the lights not very efficient
and decreases the life of the bulb?so i hope i can get the temps sorted before
the grow starts..
Air con is just too expensive here to run,ill most likely get change to cmh nxt yr
through summer then revert back to the de for winter..ive never actually grown
inside but ive used lst and topping..in oz we call it tipping.i usually tip at 3 set
of true leaves then lst the plant for 3months then let it come up..
I see how you guys manifold which is interesting but i dont think ill go
that approach.ill probably do three steps or 4 lst them a little let them
come up then top em.i dont like tipping again as i believe it slows the
plant down, but when your in a confined and restricted area it would
help.its gonna b fun stepping inside for the first time..
It pretty cool actually ..

negative pressure is the key without ac,im in a utility room growing,so no bells or whistles, pretty much same conditions of outdoors but not if you dig,i control my negative pressure ,my intake is a 400 cfm fan filter combo,i keep it almost at a stop but have fresh air coming into it and into tent, the more i turn it up the less the less heat goes out,so i run wide open exhaust and just enough on intake were it sucks the heat out of tent, how i get it is this way, take in consideration i built a pvc frame and have it zip tied about 2 ft up around the tent, but i turn the intake on slow with controler until the tent expands like a bllon, when i get there,i go to the exhaust, and slowly with controler work it down till the tent barely sucks in,just tap side of tent,if it bounce,go a little higher, you want it to be sucked in but not to a point were it will suck all the way in,just a small thump were it dont bounce back, that is your negative pressure point, then go inside tent and see how well your exhaust is sucking the heat out,i use a cig for my test,at plant canopy i want to see that smoke go right to that filter, were i live triple digits have been here 3 months and day time heat exceeds 90 in the room with the back door open, door shut,i stay right about 84 lights off during the day, forced air will grow the bud,ive made 3 runs in this heat same way,my problem is heat during or 6 week winter if you can call it that hahah

I liked l how you described getting negative pressure, very easy to understand.
I got 2 manual controllers with the fans, but i went and bought ,gee i cant think
what its called..an scom controller.4-5 amp.i plug both fans i to it set temp
turn a couple dials and shes ready to go .even has humidity when plant go to
Nighty nighs..

My rooms all made of 16mm laminate bud...so does the controller
do all the work working out the negative pressure...or is it just going
to cut in when temp just rises past my temp setting.pretty sure it has
Percentage for exhaust to set it to ,cant remember atm what i do
for inline controller knob..im starting to get abit of memort loss :smoking:

I'm on my first grow so I'm still learning how to best utilize my light. I ran it at 750 and had it approx 20 inches from the canopy. Then a couple weeks later I just put it as high as I could. I have heard people just leave them stationary through the whole grow with no adjustments. I'm flowering now so I got it at 825. It didn't really raise my temps much either. I'm a newb so I'm not much help but I can at least tell you my experience with it.

main goal is keeping that exhaust sucking more out than what coming in,dont know about you but i can hear negative pressure, makes my head hum ,lmao lights really screw with me too even with glasses on,brain damage sucks big time but life goes on,see my utility room is really just a shot of the house and subject to what ever mamam nature has to provide, thats why forced air is so important, even when the tent gets 90 it still ok because the negative pressure keeps the air moving lights on or off, like i said same as outdoor growing but without the sun hahahah, your fans you got to control it with the controlers,i have found when i think it just right,it not in some cases,so when i start to get higher temps, first thing i do is turn down the intake a little wait 30 min check again,if it didnt drop the temp some turn it down again, same plan 30 min later ,if that didnt do it go to the exhaust and try same thing,it got 108 yesterday and i built soil all day and left my door to utility room open ,got 91 in the tent ,lights off, expected to see some droppy plants when they came on ,hell they were perky and great, forced air were it at when you have nothing else

Cool ...great advice..what size is your main fan for air circulation .the
400mm 50 watters they are saying are for a bigger room.im not sure if
that that size will blast plants even on a low setting.it will b in close
appox to plants being a small room.
