The wife is looking to smoke something durning the day that will not make her sleepy but be energizing to some degree.

I’ve done some reading and came up with a list of three;
- Durban Poison
- Sour Diesel
- Jack Herer
Has anyone tried any of these and can provide some advice

Thanks - Rich

Most Sativa dom strains will fit that bill.

The Durban Poison is 100% sativa while the Jack Herer is 60 sativa & 40 indica, so will there be a difference between the two strains, they are both listed as being energizing?

That’s what the Sativa trait is, energizing.

Sativa dominate strains will give the energy, but also tend to make your more paranoid/anxious. So mixing in a little CBD strain can tamper the anxiety that sativa may give you. (I used to do a fair amount of mt biking while high, and nothing worse then being on a tight technical trail and feeling anxious.)

I find any strain heavy on the limonene gives me energy, but as said, makes me paranoid. Mixing with CBD strain(or smoking one after), helps as long as the CBD strain is not also laden with limonene. Something heavy on linalool or mycrene being the best to take the 'speed' feeling away for me. Checking strain info on wikieaf, weedmaps, leafly, ect.., will usually help tell you the terp profile.

So perhaps I should not go with Durban Poison since it 100% sativa and somewhat of a blend like Sour Diesel might be better since there’s less of a chance getting paranoid but still have an uplifting effect?

I’m guess here are only very minor differences and effects between all of the various strains and are only apparent to the very long time users.

You have to remember that effects are a generalization and maybe even plant specific, you may find plants in all those mentioned that will give you what you like and be true to their descriptions but also plants that will be far removed from it, grow conditions and cannabinoid content and ratios come into play as well. When I started smoking, you sometimes got Columbian that gives energy and sometimes makes you sleepy, highland and lowland.

Not only plant specific but harvest specific as well - how long did you let the trichomes develop on this run? 10% amber? 40% amber? So many factors.

Yes ,everything about the grow is considered and can maybe somewhat be geared to suit the goal.

You asked for a plant with energy. But now you want one that doesn't make you paranoid. Most of the "high energy" strains can make someone paranoid if they are prone to paranoia. I like crazy sativa buzzes. They don't make me paranoid, but they might make you paranoid. The only way to find out is to smoke some.

After much reading and comments on this site, I’m going with a blend and will try Jack Herer!

we also smoked Granddaddy Purple, Super Skunk, G13 and Purple Haze and could not really differentiate between any of those strains? Guess we don’t have an acute palate for weed!

Or you could do a Jack cross. MAC n Jack by Ethos was quite good. Has good energy and gets people very high. But won't keep you up all night or knock you out too soon.
