What to do about a Hermie

I have 4 plants in F50 and I found several small yellow bananas on it today. I never had this happen.

Do you think this plant can be saved ? Would it impact the other 3 plants at this late stage ?

I don’t know if you can make out the tiny yellow bananas at the tip of this bud.

Will do! I pulled it out of the tent for now, but do you think it’s ok to put it back in?

Let it finish but toss any seeds it produces and yes U may get some seeds here and there on the other plants. A hermie is a very undesired genetic trait for cannabis growers. U never want to use those seeds they will have the hermie trait an unstable plant that can swing any time. I would get some different seeds for your next grow you always want to grow the best genetics. Takes a lot of work to grow there are some dank strains on this site grow the best...

If it's only a couple of weeks and you can be diligent, keep them and watch them. If you only have a few plants, you may not want to sacrifice it. If you have plenty, just get rid of it.

This. And double check for environmental and stress factors. Are there any light leaks? Wide temperature swings?

I personally believe it's too late at this point. If you have seeds the pollen has flown already. I've never had success trying to get all the bananas or male parts off. Pull off what you can but I'd put it back and pull seeds from my smoke after dried. Don't try and use the seeds unless you want more hermies.

This particular plant was a clone someone gave me of unknown parentage. We have had several light leaks. I have been lax with that. A few times when people came over, they wanted to take a peek and we turned the lights on during the dark. I will never do that again.

We only have 4 plants and we are down to the last few nugs from the last harvest. I guess we will put it back in and be diligent about checking.

When your Hermie is done make sure to steralize the whole grow room, tent whatever, I had a hermie and I pulled the nanas but got ,full on ,seeds in the middle of the bud. Like a div because I was so stressed at losing 16 plants and spending days picking the seeds out. I just chucked my ladies in the grow space< i semi-cleaned in that pissed off disheartened way and Guess what 5 weeks in I knew the whole lot had been pollinated another 16 down the pan. If its a tent chuck it. Hope your lady has or is returning to you..

Thanks for the tips. This whole thing sucks! Did you say throw the tent away? I can’t afford to do that really:(

I got the 4 plants out and we harvested them. Getting ready to put 4 new clones in. Today I will try to sterilize the inside of the tent. I can wash all of the interior surfaces - would soapy water be good enough?

I think the plant hermied because we were lax about the dark period. We were checking the buds out and turned the lights on several times. Feeling very foolish.

Would you run a clone of this again? Trying to figure out if it’s too big of a risk.

I use Simple Green to wipe the entire inside of tent down. Works everytime.

That’s probably exactly why. You NEVER want to disturb the dark period for any reason of this happens.
