What took your grow from a 5 to a 10?

That’s awesome. My last sip did five cycles. Then it was all castings. My 4x4 has had 8 or 9 cycles.
I'm sure mine are also. Now I'll be forced to do it in the winter when it's below zero. And the winter is my favorite time to grow.

Part of why it is so important to keep your soil healthy
What better way to keep it healthy than by feeding it a balanced diet.

I malt my own barley and corn that I buy from the Mennonites and grind it up with safflower seed in a magic bullet and add castings. I also add several meals from Down to Earth ( Neemseed, crab, kelp, alfalfa, langbeinite) and several other things I'm not thinking of. I even bought a 50 lb. bag of Azomite cuz I remember using it in the 70's on our farm. I also use ferments and bokashi.

Lol I feed my soil better than I feed myself. I only have a 3x3 so its more of a hobby.

Same, it’s just perfect where I am. Everything is just humming along. Unless a freeze knocks out your power grid, that’s kinda a bitch 😂
Or a hurricane …..

Or marmosets. 👊🏻🤡

Mine to. Way easier to heat a tent than cool it. It’s 110 degrees and the sky is full of smoke in Southern California. Not ideal at all.

I agree. If you are in the U.S. I would check out build a soil if you are not already.

I have been using the BuildASoil way for 3 years now😀 And I love it.

I am using 2 Earthboxes.

E2A: I bought his mineral mix and some bokashi. Oh, and the Q

For me, what took my grow to a 10
would be proper nutrition during flowering (which gave me larger buds) and changing my drying method from hanging in a tent to drying for 14 days in my fridge (this really preserved the trichomes). I’d err on the latter probably being the main reason my last harvest was gold.
In the fridge, now that sounds logically like a bloody great idea! I've never heard of doing it like that, how do you dry it without moisture buildup could you breakdown your method for us😁🕉️

Hi Doc! I just simply did a wet trim, placed in a regular brown bag and closed. I would open the bag daily and lightly shake it to move the buds around and prevent them from flattening . Don’t shake to hard as you want to leave the trichomes intact. Do this for 14 days and jar it afterwards. Hope this helps

Also, the brown bag helps absorb the moisture preventing the buildup

Ah awesome thanks man. That's good to know, I'll deffo be trying that with 50% of my crop and I will compare flavour visuals and under the microscope after a few weeks of jar curing to see how much it improves in each area. Will post the results on here somewhere.

Please do, the biggest thing I noticed was smell. The bud got dankier by the day to where my wife was counting down til the time I remove it from the fridge.

🤣My Mrs is in for a treat then cuz she can't stand the smell and the kitchen is "her area"... Might be worth buying a mini fridge just for the occasion... save the headaches 😂

I've used a mini fridge before. Only because I didnt have a choice. It was summertime and I had no other place to dry that wasn't 80+ degrees.

I turned it all the way up (to the warmest setting) It took almost 5 weeks, but it worked. It kept most of the odor also. The one downfall is the texture wasn't there. It felt wet even though it was dry. Leathery if you will. I would have to be pretty hard-up to do it again.

Drying in the fridge? Interesting 🧐

Checking out other better growers and asking questions when I could. All forms of social media I use in that way.

Learning as much as I could everywhere about all things grow. Learning about my preferred media was a big step.

Understanding what I was growing for and how that changed my grow style. I feel there’s a big difference between growing for flower and growing for hash.

Giving up old ideas that just didn’t fit or make sense anymore. Ego can be a mf when dealing with the learning process.

Also taking what I do seriously. When I go about doing anything I want to do my best period. So when I want to learn a new grow style I feel is appropriate I put my all into learning about said subject. When I moved to making hash I did the same. I don’t like to half ass anything or if I do it’s temporary until I can do better. I don’t like wasting time so if I’m doing something I want to make sure it’s going to be to my liking and something I can be proud of. I am my biggest critic always.

Honestly the one thing that can start you at an 8 is using chat gpt to help design your setup and soil to be strain specific, it has access to most information and you can upload photos of your setup and plants to it and it will advise you on what could be wrong or what could be done better and constantly ask it what things should I be considering when doing this, whatever "this" maybe. It's like having a the world's best grower in your pocket that can explain to any level of detail you desire.

I used this nute called TPS compound. It made the bud harder while on the branches. The second time I did the fridge dry I avoided the leathery texture or wetness. Curing it in the jar for 14 days after did help as well.

I swear that is the best easiest setup. I can not figure out why anyone would want to mess with all the synthetic nutrients.

After setting up my soil I only need a re-amend before each cycle and then it can be water only if you want. And since they are SIPs, I only need to fill the reservoir when it's empty. Once every 5 days to a week in veg and every other day in flower. I use the controller 69 pro to control the environment so it's almost a hands-off grow.
