Ive got this photo runtz layer cake which is underperforming , i dont know whether to chop or leave it another week or two.
It popped the first week of august in organic soil outside for the first 4 weeks , then i bought it inside and flipped it over to 12/12, probably second week of sept. because i have messed up my previous plants i was determined not to shock this one so i just wanted to water and leave it alone, no trimming , no stress...its under a xs1000 light and i added a small 50w led panel for the first part of budding, it developed fine and the buds thickened up, tricomes started forming then it just slowed right up, that was middle of nov. i started feeding just water from end of nov (i was feeding tomato feed before this and i did top dress with potash around end of nov ) thinking i could force it , oh and the temp has been on the low side (soil temp is 19 oC and the room is about 23-24.. the ppfd has been low as well around 500.
ive just left it week by week , its got about 15% cloudy tricomes mostly clear and a lot of amber ..and the last dissapointing thing is it has zero smell , nothing, even if you rub it between your fingers ? does a plant under a weak light mature but just at a slower rate?

Not sure, but I think so. Genetics still matter. In addition to slow growth, yield might suffer. I've done some experimenting with low light during vegetation, and the plant didn't grow much. (I didn't have enough tent space, actually.) When the plant finally did get more light, it grew normally.

it's under a xs1000 light
Is that a ViparSpectra XS1000? If so, I have one of those. I think it's 100W or 120W max. I haven't used it for flowering. It works well for vegetation, though.

yes viparspectra, and thats what i am thinking, its not quite enough for full flower...ive just added my 50w led panel back in that has a bit more red in it but i dont want to make it foxtail ...it appears to be throwing out new brown hairs?
i would be happy with the yield if it would just get a bit more cloudy, this is the first plant ive grown which has bulked up properly, the others were ok but when dried were a bit fluffy

Then let um go. Just keep a eye on um. It looks awful...tasty 😋

Growing ugly buds is my jam apparently.
It amazes me how it still bulks up and the brown does not get into the flower structure.

Lights all have their own specs, but roughly speaking, with a 50-100w light your plant energy is going to be about 8 inches away from the light and only about a foot deep (20 inches from the light the energy is too low). You can grow with lower wattage if you confine the growth within that energy pocket. As far as a missing smell, were you feeding your microbes and making sure you had a little sulfer in there like from epsom salt / gypsum or a micro fert? You want it in there so it's available to the plant but it doesn't guarantee a stinker, that really depends on genetics and from there you just point them the right direction.

The popcorn growth, it looks like it more or less foxtailed and that's what insufficient lighting will do. The other thing it'll sometimes do is herm a little lower down the plant.

I was feeding with tomatorite for the first few weeks, then i will admit i watered with water from my pond for a while as it had loads of algae in it so i thought it would be a boost, everything went very dark green and waxy looking so i went back to just water. Im wondering if i overdosed it with nitrogen and locked out other nutrients , like sulphur, ?
it was 20 inches above so ive just moved it down 2 inch
