Used it on my first grow - I didn’t have issues with it. I used the water control variety (blue top of the bag).

People hate on it largely because they hear bad things on it. If you need to use it in a pinch, you may run into issues if you get the wrong kind, but I would use the stuff I used before if I needed a cheap soil.

Back in the day we all used either chicken shit compost or a basic agricultural grade triple 20 as in 20/20/20 and lots of dolomitic limestone crushed and tilled into the soils we were going to use months before using, miracle gro doesnt seem to be any different than what we all used back then , but times have changed and since most of us have moved on to full organic. Now most of us also own property and some their own livestock which is a non stop fertilizer producer regardless of the animal. but miracle grow would work in a pinch I would just make sure to buffer whatever your using for additional nitrogen with some kind of lime. and tone down whatever the labels say by a factor of five..and then add more if needed . with synthetic ferts less is always more.
