you cant say blanket statements like t5 are only good for rooting clones when theres tons of growers here been using t5 for vegging larger plants for a very long time lol.i have also used 600w mh and hps for veg but the t5 does a better job ime,have a peek

nice plants bro.im not in u.k. tho so no need to save on electric bill lol.i hav 8×1000w n my flower rm.hid is what kills it for me.t5's dnt hav enough penetration in my garage.

i have 120w of cobs over the same spot i used to have 300w of t5 and the new cob setup is vegging the plants much better with less than half the power.t5 is decent tech but times are changing fast.2 x 50w quantum boards would also smoke 300w of t5 no doubt in my mind.

I'm growing in tents tho.. not full rooms. (I'm jealous) :P but being in the mountains gives me outdoor grow ability at least. One big monster greenhouse run a year makes me happy :)

gotcha.the cobs run about the same as like a t5 or lec/cmh would.being around 60% eff im gettig a bit more light and less heat than those other setups.but if you pack 600w of cobs in a 4 x 4 tent it still gets hot as hell.but imo its easier to remove cob heat because most of it comes off the heatsinks above the lights so a simple fan setup high in the tent can move alot of the heat away.hid tends to heat up the walls,pots,leaves,everythingin there with the ir light,cobs dont do this.so alot of cob growers are finding we can run our rooms hotter like 80 to 82f to keep the leaf temps up.i ran 78f forever with my hps/mh flower rooms and im at 80 to 82 f now with all the cobs and the plants love it.

3000 or 3500k would be my choice if you ever plan on using it to flower.also plenty of blue light in 4000k

cobs at 25w/sf seems to work great for vegging. I use 4cxb3590 36v 5000k at 700mA or 25w/sf and below. Great

I dont know if I can spend $600 usd in another light for veg. Just dropped $1700 on my 12 cob flower light.

Yeah my COB Light was going to cost me $540 taxes in CDN and shipped - thinking i may build it myself as easy enough.
Or thinking I will go with 3 x t5 6500k bulbs and 3 x PowerVeg 420 -

whole set up will cost me $250 CDN

I've replaced HPS and T5.

I use 5000K COBs 350ma-700ma for vegetative.

You can run very low power and have healthy green ladies.

Or, run more intensity for fast growth. You can really customize and dial things in with COB.

I am thinking of going this route but I don't have tools and I am not sure where to source the metal etc... (although I am sure I could figure it out).
I was getting a COB 5000K - 4COB array however the guy fell through as he was lying and taking advantage of me so now I have 3 weeks to get my new light and tent to move a few plants from flower tent to veg tent :(
Scrambling.

Due to time I am going to buy t5's probably and then just work on a COB Light down the road.
Hope the t5's work well.
