When do I switch from 18/6 light to 12/12

Generally when plants are half as tall as you want them to be and they're in decent health, able to take off after flipping.
What are your lights?
Soil pH?
Any and all grow info will help.

I flip when my canopy covers 50% of my flower floor area. (For example, I veg in a 2x4 and flower in a 4x4. When I can't see the floor of the 2x4 from above, it's time to move the plants to the 4x4 and flip them.)
