When should I transplant?

Im in week two of veg from clones under a 1000W HPS. Theyve shot up to about 8-10" and are in 1's. When do you guys usually transplant? I usually just start them in 5's, but my buddy convinced me to start them in 1's this time...should I wait until Im closer to flipping or just xplant now?

I like to transplant at least one week before I flip. This gives the plants a bit of time to acclimate to their new homes. But some of it depends on how long you are looking to veg them in total. Also I wouldn't allow the roots to become root bound, transplant before this happens.
