hey all, so i have just switched my lights to 12/12, set to go out early for the first time tonight at 11pm. the last time i watered was a full strength dose of vegetative nutrients. I am wondering if my next watering should be when i hit them with their first dose of flowering cycle nutes ? TIA

Of course, if you changed your light cycle to induce flowering it is now time to acclimate your plant to bloom nutrients, start slow i allways go less then recommended dose to see how plant reacts then aclimate up from there, if your growing autos much much less is best.

okay, thank you :) gonna go about half strength then !

How about a little more info and pics? Soil? Coco? Hydroponics? Age? Hell, I could go on and on but you get the picture, you've browsed this site. Give us the info we need to help. Many here want YOU to succeed. Truth bro.

hahaha sorry for being so non descriptive , i suppose the answer could depend on a few things! theyre white widow, been in veg for 45 days now. they are in pro mix HP and about 20 -30 percent added perlite, they have been receiving emerald harvests grow, micro, and bloom , along with some cal mag, and recently added emerald goddess to the lineup, which has alot of good stuff in it. might as well add the king kola bloom booster soon too haha.. gonna give a reduced dose of early flower nutes tonight to see how they react and go from there next watering!

What nutes are we talking about?
emerald harvest 3 part, grow, micro, bloom. emerald goddess which is derived from kelp and alfalfa and has humic acid and b vitamins along with a few other things, and im going to pick up their king kola bloom booster as well! gonna try this lineup out for a while, atleast till i run out. seems to be very effective but i also have nothing to compare to . then i will perhaps try my hand at organics, ive just heard bottled nutes are a pretty safe bet to get consistent quality. and probably alot easier to get started as well.

I would follow the manufacturer's recommendations. I don't have any experience with these nutes but my feeling is stick with veg nutes and add your pk for stretch. Then transition to flower and continue pk.

Again never used these nutes

only reason i shy away from their recommendations is because the few times i gave them full strength the tips started to burn up on the leaves,
Yeah dosages are a whole nother thing. You made the right decision there. More often than not full strength nutes lead to toxicity.

Added: changing from veg to bloom will change the ratios of nutrients. I would follow what they recommend but as you have done might reduce the amounts based on your observations

I would highly recommend staying on the grow ratio for at least 4 weeks, I actually prefer 5 or 6 weeks now for 8 and 9 week strains. Tapered off to the bloom ratio only for the last few feedings as a ripener. This gave me excellent results on my last grow, also using promix.

I think most nutes cut to much nitrogen to fast in bloom nutes.

But I dont use bloom nutes.

They do. And they have too much phosphorus that isnt needed in promix. About the best lineup I've seen for ratios that work well in promix is the botanicare products. Their pure blend pro grow and hydro bloom is a decent nutrient as is the kind trio. I've also had good luck with floranova grow as well nearly all the way through flower, tapering to bloom the last few weeks.

But most 3 part feed charts for other nutrient companies have you throw the NPK all out of wack too soon and you inevitably run into issue, yellowing leaves mid flower, potassium and calcium deficiencies etc..

I would recommend you continue feeding straight vegetative nutrients for at least the first month of flowering;

If you cut the nitrogen (AKA vegetative nutes) too soon you'll have premature yellowing and unwanted leaf drop

as a general rule, feed veg formula for approximately the first half of flowering. You'll hear varying opinions on this topic so look into it, good luck

Ps. Never use manufacturer's recommendations for nutrients you will almost always burn your plants

Also read up on products like megacrop or jacks 321 for example, you don't necessarily need to switch nutrients ever during a grow
