I think the video uploaded. If it did not please let me know. The video explains everything.

Thanks to all in advance. Ive been thinking about this all winter.

As much full sun as you can and if this is not going to be the reason for placement at least measure it and see what the average dli would be for the reduced time in the sun.

If it's below a certain amount you may decide it's just not gunna be. I mean like here an average dli during mid July in full sun is 48. If you are in shade for 7 hours it is less than 30.
Google average daylight and DLI by your zip code

Hoping for 3-6. Did an indoor grow but seems at this point a bust. Spring is coming fast so that ive been looking forward to
When was that video taken? Looks like you’ve got some time to wait for the ground to warm up a little : ) should be plenty of time to come up with a (great reason to plant some marijuana) šŸ˜†āœŒļø

I’m with GNick on ā€œputting them where they get the most sunā€

That video was taken today. It's been warming up. This is the cause of a random front roll through. We dont plant outside here til may 15th.

I was suspecting something of what you described : )

I grow in my backyard (once so far lol) but had to really watch the sun, tons of trees around. If you can find a good patch with a few hours of direct sunlight or more at a time, youll do way better than you’d think! : )
Strain and ability permitting, and of course just the plain ole ā€œfarming and shit can happenā€. another thing to consider, which is just as important as the sun, is who can see them! walk your property from all angles and tryand spot where the plnats would be, put up a latter or something.

Do you have any strains picked out you are interested in (we know you have seeds already, you can tell us, we wont rat you out to your old lady!😁) šŸ˜‚āœŒļø

mmmm kids a touchy subject when growing they must be old enough to know what it is?
i’d grow it regardless šŸ˜†
maybe grow a couple sunflowers or other plants as well

100% valid brother! 100% : )

Are we talking ā€œbut most of all you’ve gotta keep it from the kids coocookachoo Mrs Robisonā€ or ā€œcps will take my children?ā€ šŸ˜‚

I have had conversations with my littlest’s preschool teachers about ā€œso you grow cool plants in the shed huh?ā€ šŸ˜‚ all ended well, but again. any and all concerns involving kids are totally valid and should be considered. we learned about things we do at home arent always things we share in public HAHAHAHAH! šŸ˜‚ āœŒļø

This time I got it. It was acting funky earlier

I'm with @GNick55 -- better have a conversation with your better half, where is she comfortable with it, and what are you going to do to keep the kids away from the plants. The latter isn't because the kids will damage your plants and not because the plants will hurt them. It's solely so that if child services happens to drop by, they won't take your kids away for having access to marijuana plants.

But location wise, the north side of your property is going to have good exposure to the Southern sky where the sun is angling most at all times of the year for the Northern Hemisphere. If your winds and storms typically come from a particular direction, factor that in to your design.

I look at it like guns. Best to educate them, than leave them to curiosity.

If it's legal....share the knowledge with them. Then teach them to keep their mouth shut to their friends, and why.

For me, I'd choose the south side of the house where it can get as much east n west lighting as possible, as long as it's hitting the plants during mid day. That's the delima I deal with....no direct sun till 1 pm, then filtered thru trees in the evening around 7-8 pm. ( Summer solstice)

I put up a small fence for pole beans to grow on and add concealment from the road. My property is smaller than yours

So I got my answer from my wife and I now have a plan moving forward. We both agreed to keep the plants away from close proximity from where the kids play. The trees east of the ones in the video are not on my property but im sure my neighbor that owns it wont care to cut down effected trees for both invasive species, "control" and safety for my kids.

We will open up the sky and ill put them in pots or directly in ground back there

If you leave them in pots they won't become trees, but when the weather turns sour you can get them out of harms way, and that's a big plus when there's going to be high winds, heavy rain or hail in the forecast. If you put them in the ground, sometimes you don't find out until a month later when the sun moves its seasonal position you find out it's now shaded.

The reason I'd pick a northern (South facing) spot and not a Southern (North facing) one is because as we move further away from the Summer Solstice the sun drops lower into the Southern sky, so if it's planted South and North facing, spots that were sunny in June could be shaded by July.
