Hey all,

I just purchased some seeds from Attitude and wanted to see which would be a good seed for a first-time grower:

G13 Labs Blueberry Gum Feminized
TGA Subcool Seeds Qleaner
TGA Subcool Seeds Apollo 13 X Vortex
TGA Subcool Seeds Kaboom Jacks Cleaner X Vortex
TGA Subcool Seeds Jilly Bean
TGA Subcool Seeds Deep Purple
UFO#1 TH Seeds Burmese Kush Feminized
UFO#2 T H Seeds S.A.G.E Feminized

I am really looking forward to Kaboom and the G13, but wanted some expert opinions. I look forward to your input.

whats up Cheeba?

most people wont tell you to do with your grow, but if it was me? id pop the freebies first. or at least a FEMMED seed. you have picked good Breeders, so your fems should be solid.

I would go the SAGE first. it is pretty easy to obtain, meaning if it goes south you can replace the genetics if you want to.

OR... if you are in a med state, just grab a few clones to abuse/ learn on.
or some bagseed.

Greens and best of Karma to your grow

Thanks for the tips. I may just head that route as you make a fine point about free seeds. I may also germ a few of the non-feminized seeds so that I can fem them with colloidal silver. Decisions, decisions. I have a feeling growing is going to be a lot of fun.

My advice as a noob brother... stay away from clones. I spent over 300.00 in genetics in clone form and am tossing everyone of them. Some were rooted in rockwool and what I got for my efforts was bugs and disease ridden plants for my efforts. You are off to a right start.... seeds. Keep your room clean and sterile. As far as which one... do some reading up on the strains and go with the one that seems to be the easiest to grow. Then keep the nutes very low and bump up as needed.

Hope this helps.

GanjaAL: I am not in a position to procure clones, not would I endeavor to based upon what I have read on the forum. I will try my hand at cloning once I know I have a solid plant.

I have read that I should make cuttings as soon as I see pre-flower. Is that accurate?

As for my room, I am still in the design stages. I have a 400w hps system from HTG along with a 250cfm duct fan that I will use for exhaust to the outside (I will likely be making a carbon filter to sink the stink before it heads outside). The grow closet will be either 3x2.5' or 4x2.5'. I will also make a section adjacent to the grow closet for drying and possibly for clones.

I will be using Dr. Earth Potting Soil (supposedly all the growers in Oregon use it for their grows and love the shit out of it) along with some Dr. Earth Bud and Bloom during flower.

I am vexed as to which method I want to use, however. I love LST as well as scrog, but am wondering whether it is too ambitious for a new grower to utilize both for a first run.

Thanks for all your input.

Clones should come from your momma that is atleast 2 months old. That is what I have read. Someone on this site correct me if I am wrong.

Now that I have the seeds, I have decided to go with the G13 Blueberry Gum. Everything I have read about it just sounds so damned tasty. I will let you all know how it goes.

You should grow Skunk #1, even though you have not listed it. Skunk is the perfect strain for any newbie to learn on for a variety of reasons. Good luck....

I would go with a nice indica. Afghan if you can find some. They are usually very hearty and can withstand some abuse. A lot of sativas can be very tempermental, and photoperiods are sometimes offset from the normal, 18/6, 12/12

I ended up going with Jilly Bean and Blueberry Gum on a lark. I decided that I would see how the smell would be and figure out the best method for smell eradication at that point. Seeing as these are supposed to smell more fruity than skunky or pissy, I figured these would be good for my first grow.

I started a grow diary post and will hopefully have some solid updates as time progresses. Wish me luck.
