I disagree, would not be happening under dems. When it comes to pot, there is a pretty clear divergence between the liberal and conservative folks. It is what it is. Saw they reversed course on the private prisons as well; so you know, gotta keep those beds full and $ rolling in.

Edit: there is actually an interesting argument to be made against my view as the dems were totally down with mandatory minimums and private prisons in the 90s. I don't think that argument would really hold up though as it was more a reaction to being painted as soft on crime during the 80s, and that tough on crime approach has been steadily losing favor since the end of the 90s.

100% agree. The dems "crackdown" on crime was a hasty and ultimately disastrous miscalculated effort to combat their image the republicans had painted them with as soft on crime. It ended up alienating their base and they paid the price for it.

While Hillary wasn't going to legalize pot federally any time soon, you can be sure she would have let the status quo of Obamas "let the states do what they want" policy ride. The irony of course being that republicans always paint themselves as the party of "small government and states rights"....that is up until you start talking about personal freedoms and scary ideas that don't jive with their puritanical bible thumping world view. Then they send in the dogs. And as you pointed out, the Feds are gonna start using for profit prisons again, against the course Obama had set (although way too late in his tenure)...coincidence? Me thinks not.

Shit is gonna get real. I feel for anyone who has invested in legal grow ops. The next four years are going to be a real shit show.

I'm not generally a paranoid person, but I can see a very bleak future shaping up (and I'm not talking about weed use) . If the next big terrorist attack happens under this administration, people will be lining up to hand over their freedoms and privacy for "safety"...and these guys will gladly destroy what little is left of the fourth amendment despite their pledged reverence for the constitution.

Bowing out of thread. Seems we are going down the political thread death spiral. Hard to separate the two...but eh, be well yall.
It's the new normal. It would be easier to argue for political threads but it is impossible to keep a political discussion impersonal. It's also difficult with so many different parts of the industry puzzle being cozy here, what is good for one might spell disaster for another. I'm still trying to figure out what is and is not fake news, it all seems like a bad trip. Stick to snopes for political news.

Man I debate myself all the time. Gotta keep my poops interesting. Stealing a line from a song but "I asked this crazy dude why he talks to himself and he said who can answer my questions better than meeeeeeee huuhhhh."

I try to see the other side of arguments whenever I can. If nothing else, it preps you to debate your point and be ready to counter.

Mostly it's me being bored poopin though.

This works in all scenario's except those involving the ladies. Because they are crazy and can't be reasoned with.

I’ve had it. I’m seriously considering putting some mild effort into thinking about moving to Canada, but I’m serious, more serious than the idiots who lied when they said they’d leave if trump won 2016 and the idiots who lied when they said they’d move if Obama won in 2012. In fact, I’m so far above this that I’m going to move now, but not in anticipation or in protest of who or what wins in 2020. I’m going to beat you other jerks who are going to be moving to Canada after the 2056 election in protest of whoever gets elected. This will ensure my first ‘FIRST!!!!!!1!!!1!!’ as well as ensuring my spot on the bandwagon that shows up. Or something.

Being antigovernment I just see lies on top of hypocritical lies on all fucking sides. Personally unless canna is totally legalized im not going to get that excited. I travel for work and when I go to "legal" states not a damn thing changes. They show up on location and test everyone there you fail your fired. So I'm cool with my state not legalizing I make more money from my garden and I can't smoke anyway if I want to keep my job. Right now the psycho in office is better for my industry (oil and gas)than the bitch that was running against him. We are under constant surveillance and most are more than happy to offer personal info. Shit... I'm starting to ramble, sorry.

So...Frigging kudos to this thread for not being crazytown.

@Orcaman there have been a few similar stories in denver and it's heartwarming that local pols are backing their constituents. I have seen it more on the sanctuary city side, but it sure is nice having that. Here's hoping they show the same backbone on weed.
