Hey guys who’s doing tissue culture on a smaller scale at home? I want to expand my library of cultivars but can’t have hella moms.

I know this is going to take some time to learn just like regular cloning was at first but eventually you will find out the best ways to perfect the process.

I figured I could set up a 5x5 and hook up hepa filters to the intake and then go even further with a small flow hood. Buy the media powders, culture vessels, tools, autoclave or
Pressure cooker, and hella research! Eventually get into full on meristem TC using a microscope.

This would help me boost the amount of cultivars I could manage for breeding projects and for people who want clones. Another huge bonus is how clean and sterile everything is and it can revitalize your genetics. No pests or disease!!!

Athena just released a new all in one kit for a hefty price tag check it out ⬇️ Getting into TC isn’t cheap tho but I think I’ll piece my setup together myself
Whos doing tissue culture

So who’s doing it and tell us about your process. Let’s get a discussion going here!

What a cool little kit.

I'd post up what I do, but it's not realistic for most people. I have a giant sterile lab I built for mushrooms. Not sure how much help that is for someone who wants to get in small scale.

There were some ideas for low cost still air boxes and filter boxes on the mushroom thread here. Maybe that could help?

The cost of the chemicals and tubes and such that you need for this for 100 cultures should be less than $200. You are paying for the design and filter with this Athena kit.

I’m willing to spend some money to get going. Flow hood will be pricey but I think that would handy since I don’t want to get into mycology too. Ya I honestly like their kit it looks dope and portable you can set up shop anywhere. Ya man share some of your knowledge and show us some pics!

What can I tell you? I have not looked into that kit other than when you just posted it. I love the form factor. It will be better than what most people use for mycology, and that is what you are trying to emulate here. The rest is just working with tiny clones in a different media. Anybody that has successfully cloned aeroponicly and worked with mushroom spores of any kind before can do this easily, There is no reason not to do it but cost. If I did not already have the lab I would not have started.

I think you are only the second person I have seen on the farm show any interest. @BudGoodman was the other. Miss that dude - fucking inspiration of how to live your best life.

So I ended up buying this small flow hood that had really good reviews and you can add more sections on as you get more involved in TC. I just wanted to hear more about others experience doing TC. Now I’ll work towards piecing together the rest of the supplies and equipment I’ll need to begin!

Have you checked out microclone.com?

I have and also bought some stuff from Athena. I’ve stepped back for now bc I don’t have a dedicated space. I have to set it all up just to contaminate all my cultures. It’s very frustrating and takes a lot of steps just to get to the part where you add the tiny plantlets. So much time and effort to have nothing to show for it. I just don’t have the time right now….

Hay guys, I have a full blown laboratory set up at my house and over 300+ different strains in my collection can send list but it’s all or nothing so don’t ask. Willing to sell the whole thing for 120k if anyone is interested hit me up at [email protected]
