Hey everyone, thanks for checking out the thread. I was wondering how big the trees are my fellow Ohio farmers are growing. Hopefully we can share and compare, and show and tell. Here's an update on my garden this year. Hoping to get a few monsters. I got a little bit of a late start but they are moving!

Thanks brother. This is my first time trying to grow trees. We've been growing giant plants for a long time, but nothing over 2 lbs. I'm hoping to get in the ballpark of 4 lb on some of them even with the late start. I've been too busy to really get in the garden and work, hopefully this weekend i can get out there and do some defoliation and training. The desert seems like a tough place to grow. Every desert grow I've seen was a fistfight with humidity and temperature. Good luck on your indoor!!

I'm close, Southeast Michigan. I only grow outdoors and have for 5 years. (since it became legal)
It's a blast, and a battle, just like any gardening project. Just starting to get red cherry tomatoes. Yay!

You have a very nice spacing, are you trellising or staking and tieing?

Looking beautiful and massive, @RealFarmer

What strains have you found do best in our climate here in the buckeye state?

I went up to MI the other day to get a few new strains to try out (smoke wise). I really need to focus on what does best here. Any strains you know that fares better towards the end of our season? Or do very poorly?

I'm still not even able to sex mine yet. Unless, I get the black walnut trees removed and bury some hardware cloth deep (moles), I'll be in containers.

Thank you. Do you grow them big or do you try to keep them manageable? Southeast Michigan is my home away from home!! Adrian is where I got my first taste of bud farming!! I will be putting a double trellis on the girls and putting a cage around them. They are on 12ft centers. Think I'll do 15ft centers next year. Good luck in the garden

I have found that the kush varieties do very well here. They are practically mold resistant and pack on. Look at kosher kush from DNA genetics. I've never seen it mold. The hardware cloth is excellent for mole control. I plan on making a cheap frame to cover the rows in September because I do not want any rain on the ladies once flowers set. Thank you for stopping by! Good luck in the garden this yealr!!!

Hey Galgrows! I've a couple of pinkish big ones too!
Only thing is... all this rain makes them swell up and split open, so I gotta watch'em close.

FYI, I've tried 3 Fast varieties and found that they did indeed flower 2 weeks earlier than feminized versions but ended up full of bud rot.
Could be my micro-climate, or a weakness in the genes, don't know. But I will not try them again.

Yes sir! Hopefully they see the bat signal and come show us what they're cooking up this summer. Maybe a couple big boys out of southern ohio show up. I have seen monsters down there. Thanks for jumping in. Good luck with your garden brother

I didn't even realize there was a fast variety. Thanks for learning me something today and sharing your experience.

Thanks for the heads up.

I am a lifetime student and I'm always trying to further my scholarship and would appreciate any advice on growing monsters. Wondering what kind of yields do you get off of those outdoor trees? And when do you start them inside? Next year I plan on adding some tweaks to get them a little bigger. I saw Tom hills plants a decade ago and I was inspired. Any tips on getting them monster size would be greatly appreciated.

I've only been doing this 5 years, there are alot move experienced people on the forum but I'll tell you what works for me.
This year I started regular seeds early to sex them at 2 months before going to their in the ground home. I had varying levels of success due to my mistakes. You could say they are growing in spite of me. LOL

Last year I started them beginning of May so they wouldn't get so big.... didn't work, they were 8 foot by harvest. Unfortunately, this year's are 7 feet already and they haven't started flowering yet. Akkkkk!

Regular watering (rain has been every 3-5 days this year!), lots of sun, a little fertilizer and away they go. LOL
They grow like (well, you know).

That storm you got hit with went north of us and we just got scattered showers. There was also one south heading east, may have been that too.
I believe there is a dome above us, you know like on Get Smart. LOL
