Cool thread. Glad I seen it.

Hoping somebody can help me on this.

I had done some reading on the net of the medicinal benefits of psilocybin. Some reading indicated micro dosing can/may be beneficial to cognitive and some neurological functions.

A while ago, an oz of Dino Eggs fell out of the sky right in front of me. I collected them all, and then dried them. I then used a mortar and pestle to grind them into powder. To test potency, I added a gram of the powder to a cup of hot sugar water and drank it. And yup, it fucked me up. So good. The the Gods were kind.

So I took 23g of the powdered Dino Eggs and soaked it in 750ml of 195 Proof Everclear for a week.
- Then strained and squeezed the solution from the biomass.
- Then filtered the solution down to 0.45um with Buchner/membrane.
- Then reduced the solution in a rotovap (40C/30TORR) down to approx 300ml.

For a week straight, I added 2ml to my morning coffee every day. It did make the coffee taste a bit off, but not terrible. I am not sure if I stopped the therapy to soon, or its basically a 'placebo'. I also wasnt sure if any kind of effect. So the following weekend for a test, I added approx 10ml to my coffee. No effect.

From what I understand with mushrooms, if extracting for medicinal purposes, it is a 2 phase extraction process. One with water, and one with alcohol. Then they are combined. But I am only interested in the psilocybin.

So my questions are this:
- Is it even possible to extract psilocybin with Everclear?
- Should have I continued the therapy longer?
- Higher dosage?
- Is my extraction in fact a 'placebo'?

I really wish to pursue this for my own well being. I'm old, used, abused, and worn out. I have nothing to lose. But everything to gain if it is beneficial.

I don’t know that much about alcohol extraction, but you may want to consider the recipe in The Psilocybin Mushroom Bible. It’s alot simpler. Maybe more effective? IDK.

But, mainly, I’d follow a Microdosing Protocol. Your brain doesn’t have the ability to take and process psilocybin every day, consistently. Most protocols involve taking one microdose every 2, 3, or 4 days, and then comparing dose days, transition days, and “normal” days.

I would do my best to make sure the fruits weren’t pressed up against the wet sides since that’ll just encourage bacteria and rot, but keep it closed as much as you can. After you harvest you can probably rehydrate it for a second flush. Misting is what a lot of people do but I’ve really found injecting water into the substrate to be the most effective way without bruising fruits or causing aborts

Thank you very much for the reply. Appreciated.

And thank you for the heads up on cerebral function. Thats why I chose to go with a light dose to begin with. I want to do it right. I didnt feel any diffent over the time. The tincture didnt produce any kind of high I was aware of. But at same time, I dont want a psychoactive 'feeling'. Just feel 'normal'.

I didnt get the oppertunity to try a heavy dose this weekend to see if any potency. I work during the week so I will have to wait for next weekend for another oppertunity. I really would like to pursue this.

Should have I just left the shrooms in powder form and capsulated them? That would likely provide the most medinial effect, if there is one to speak of.

I checked out your link for Microdosing Protocol. Thanks, very imformative.

I tried to source a copy of The Psilocybin Mushroom Bible, but couldnt find a free download. (Its out there somewhere).

If you have anything to offer to my endevour, please feel free to reply.

What type of yields should someone expect from some of the common gourmet varieties? Any tips?

Been thinking of growing some shrooms myself again. Looking for better way to grow really. So far I've done it using BRF in a mason jar until colonized.

Was thinking about using grain bags and monotub. Don't know much of the different methods. Actually I was surprised they grew. The first time the substrate got moldy.

agar to grain is king. sterilizing your own grain is easy as pie. most pre sterilized grain bags have been sitting long enough to be compromised, they are never fully sterile really just the organisms "beat down" enough so your inoculant has no competitors until fully established and colonized. a bag of rye or wheat berries from Amazon, a pressure cooker and jars and you're off to the races my friend.

grain based spawn will also open up the world of sclerotia for you should you want to grow them truffles and whatnot
