The citric acid doesn't remove the calcium carbonate from your water. Eventually, you could be running into calcium lockout. If it were my grow, I'd consider filtered water. You can buy an RV water filter that threads onto a garden hose. It will filter sediment and drop ppm considerably. It's an inexpensive trick to help you deal with what could become a frustrating problem.

Is it a concern growing in amended soil with no pot? I am straight into the ground outdoors. I'm planning to do my first auto tent grow in a month, I'll surely need something to filter that water. I will be using an Autopot system.

I use the RV filters outdoors for my vegetable gardens. Some is raised bed. Some is in the ground. It's a variety of fruits and veggies and this year, no cannabis (I have an abundance) so yes, you can use these outdoors. In some areas, the calcium levels are so high in well or even municipal water supplies, its a cheap way to address this. Being in ground does make it harder for it to build up in the soil, but it still can over time.

I haven't checked ppm but without the filters, I have a sediment in the bottom of the reservoir I use for water storage. With the filters, no noticeable sediment. My greenhouse watering is completely automated. The difference is quite noticeable. I replace the filters annually.
