I`ve traditionaly done everything hydro as I always seem to kill anything in soil. But I got tired of the rapid growth/overgrowth of having moms in DWC buckets so switched to soil to try to slow the growth a bit....just the moms though. Have 2 AK moms in probably 3 gallon pots using ocean forest soil. Was using 'Mother Plant' nutes. Getting 24 hour light and they are both pre-flowering big time! I switched over to GH 1-2-3 regime to see if more nitrogen could help but it doesn`t seem to be. My thoughts are 1)they are root bound 2)seed vendor sent auto flowering rather than regular seeds. These are Serious AK.

Also all the cuts I am taking from them are wilting and drooping in the prop dome. Used to in hydro everything just fell into place but really struggling here! Really don`t have time to start over from scratch....Any advice on how to get these girls to get back to vegging??

Just got a bad thrip situation cleaned up but now this pops up.:mad0233:

i have heard of Serious strains auto flowering... some people say there gear is fine but this isnt the first time i have heard this... sorry to hear it bro.. throw em into to your flower room and grab some new cuts... i dont think she is going to go back into veg

Transplant them into 5,7,or 10 gal and flush em then hit em with veg food, and try 18-20 hrs on and 6-4 off with the lights.
I'm betting they r rootbound, and 24hrs of light with the rootbound is major stress.
If your trying to keep the moms mellow and slow growing, try less light and flush water every 3rd watering and do straight water for a week or so before taking cuts...

Thanks for the quick response guys. I`m betting they are root bound too. Got these planters at a $ store and they have a resevoir thingy on the bottom I thought I could get by a few days without having to water as I`m not always around. This is the largest size they make. Seeds came from the Dr and was going to contact him with the issue but having run Serious for a decade this is the first time i`ve really had issues so I think it`s on my end.

I guess the good news is I took some cuts before this popped up and they are ready for bloom like yesterday. So I'll trim them up and take some to create new mom`s with and probably flower these 2 under a 600w. Started the seeds about 3 months ago and didn`t realize they would turn this quick....some of my buddies swear they keep moms in soil pots for 5 years....that`s why I tried to switch to see if I could get longer life span than what I was getting in DWC. Live and learn....I`m just not cut out to do soil at all....

Yep...that`s what I`m going to do. Just have to suck it up and take what cuts I can off my clones as the ones from the moms are just wilting. Then hold 1 or 2 back for new moms and flower these. Just been scratching my head over it. the 2 things that changed were going to soil and using 'mother plant' nutes....really can`t point my finger anywhere else given those variables....

oh....and the cuts that are about to flower are in hydroton in an e&f tray and they aren`t showing this issue....so I guess that`s why I don`t suspect it as a seed issue. Thanks for confirming my thoughts guys.

I agree you can keep soil Moms alive for years with proper transplanting and root pruning...3 gal isn't the best size for a mother even for a limited time; the smallest I'd put one into is a 5gal and it would get transplanted after a month most likely.
